At present, the Felix Posen Bibliographic project comprises three online databases containing about 20,000 items. Additional material is listed on a regular basis. The three databases are:
* the ongoing bibliography (publications from 1984 to the present);
* the retrospective bibliography (from 1983 and going back in time; it now covers the years 1978-1983); and
* the bibliography on the "Jewish Question" in German-speaking countries, 1848-1914
In the first two databases entries are grouped in three sections:
bibliographies;
antisemitism in specific periods;
antisemitism in literature and the arts.
Works on the Holocaust that were published in the period covered in each volume of the bibliography are included as part of the history of antisemitism in the twentieth century. These databases may be accessed through the Israeli University Libraries Network (ALEPH). Outside of Israel they can be searched via telnet: aleph.huji.ac.il, or internet via one of the several "gophers." The
username is ALEPH. No password is required. Our library code is LB
/JCJ.BAS, accessible from the Search screen (SE).
Researchers and students dealing with topics related to antisemitism and/or the Holocaust, who do not have direct access to these databases may contact our office for a search requestr on their topic of study.

The Institute on the Holocaust and Genocide in Jerusalem is pleased to announce the forthcoming availability of the HOLOCAUST AND GENOCIDE COMPUTERIZED BIBLIOGRAPHIC DATABASE, Version 2.2, edited by Marc I. Sherman and Israel W. Charny. This database has been compiled on an IBM-compatable PC using Procite, one of the most widely acclaimed bibliographic database managers on personal computers.
The database, which has been largely funded by the U.S. Institute of Peace, Washington, D.C. (a federal agency), assembles literature especially from 1980 onwards, the period which has seen the most significant steps forward in the emerging field of study of genocide as well as a limited number of citations from earlier years. The database has been compiled from a multitude of international sources including the institute's own published bibliographies (Genocide: A Critical Bibliographic Review, Charny, I.W. [Ed], Volume 1, 1988 and Volume 2, 1992), an invited panel of distinguished scholars, and various online databases.
The fields covered in this interdisciplinary database include religion, psychology, sociology, law, medicine, history, economics, political science, anthropology, education, and philosophy. The database contains some 9000 unique bibliographic citations of books, chapters of books, book reviews, journal articles, and dissertations, most with abstracts, and a unique controlled index word scheme developed specifically for this database.
This first-of-a-kind database is without doubt the most comprehensive source of literature in this rapidly evolving area of research and will be an invaluable source for scholars accessing information on this crucial field. This database will be available on diskettes to research institutions, libraries and scholars. The availability on Procite, with its advanced searching and formatting capabilities, will further enhance research.
