11 09: QUELQUES SUPPOSITIONS

D'abord, il faut dire que la version officielle donnée par les autorités américaines de ce qui est arrivé à New York, Washington et ailleurs le 11 septembre 2001, n'est pas croyable. Ces mêmes autorités, au moment où elles nous fournissaient la première version de ce que nous appellerons l'Explication Ben Laden, ont d'ailleurs reconnu qu'elle était incroyable et qu'elle serait étayée, dans les jours et les semaines à suivre, de preuves. Ces preuves, deux mois plus tard, n'ont pas été apportées. La tentative grotesque du polichinelle anglais, Blair, de justifier l'Explication Ben Laden, était précédée d'un amusant avertissement insistant sur le fait que les prétendues preuves fournies ne tiendraient pas une minute devant un tribunal quelconque, ce qui était bien une façon de redire que cette explication était incroyable.
Depuis le 11 septembre, plusieurs milliers, sinon plusieurs dizaines de milliers de policiers, du FBI mais aussi des services de police de très nombreux pays, des milliers d'espions de tout poil, y compris ceux qui ratissent les villas abandonnées de Kaboul, se sont lancés dans une traque de Ben Laden et de ses associés putatifs, sans que l'on puisse retracer autre chose qu'une vague nébuleuse d'activités liées à plusieurs conflits où sont engagées des fractions islamistes. L'Explication Ben Laden n'a jamais décollé.
L'idée qu'un groupe particulier, identifiable, de militants que l'on pourrait qualifier d'islamistes, a, de lui-même, avec ses propres moyens, planifié, organisé et perpétré l'attentat du 11 septembre, sous la tutelle d'une sorte de directorat rassemblé autour de Ben Laden n'a pas encore reçu de confirmation probante de la part des autorités qui ont tous les moyens de faire la lumière sur cette affaire. Nous ne parlons pas ici des zones d'ombres, sur lesquelles nous reviendrons, mais du principe général de l'explication des événements.
Cette explication est incroyable et je ne la crois donc pas. Mais avant d'entrer plus avant dans les raisons de notre incroyance, il faut rappeler une évidence. Il y a eu complot. Pour quelqu'un comme moi qui a toujours manifesté la plus grande des réticences devant les théories qui expliquent les événements historiques par des complots ou des conspirations, théories qui ont reçu le sobriquet péjoratif de "conspirationnistes", il est évident que les événements manifestement coordonnés du 11 septembre sont le produit de la coopération secrète d'un nombre non négligeable d'individus, disposant de moyens sur lesquels on peut épiloguer. Par conséquent, sans aucunement se "convertir" au conspirationnisme, il faut postuler une conspiration comme origine de la force motrice qui a mis les événements en mouvement.
Pourquoi l'Explication Ben Laden est-elle incroyable? Parce qu'on ne planifie pas une opération aussi vaste et complexe, dans un pays comme les Etats-Unis, à partir d'un autre pays totalement dénué d'infrastructures, dont les rarissimes téléphones satellitaires sont évidemment écoutés par Echelon, où toute communication avec l'étranger doit se faire, péniblement et tortueusement, en déplaçant des personnes.
L'Explication Ben Laden est incroyable parce qu'on ne connaît aucune cause, aucun mouvement politique qui soit capable de trouver vingt militants prêts, au jour dit et à l'heure dite, et après de complexes mouvements d'approche, à se suicider ensemble. On connaît assez bien les pratiques qui entourent les attentats-suicides, qui ont été observées au Shri-Lanka, avec les "Tigres de l'Eelam", les indépendantistes tamouls, ou les Libanais et Palestiniens qui ont attaqué, de cette façon, les forces d'occupation israélienne de leurs pays. Il s'agit toujours d'un individu à la fois, qui est préparé de longue date, entouré et qui n'est seul pour agir que dans les dernières minutes ou dizaines de minutes de son acte. Tout ce qu'on connaît de ces situations paroxystiques rend extraordinairement implausible qu'une organisation aussi vague et floue que celle que nous propose l'Explication Ben Laden ait pu préparer, coordonner, l'acte suicidaire que nous avons pu voir le 11 septembre.
L'Explication Ben Laden est incroyable parce que si une organisation avait réellement coordonné et préparé les kamikazes, elle aurait laissé des traces, que des milliers de policiers lancés dans toutes les directions auraient facilement retrouvées. Or les traces laissées par les auteurs présumés ne montrent aucune organisation, mais juste des existences de personnes qui sont sensibles aux thèmes politiques de l'islamisme et qui en parlent avec leurs connaissances. Ce sont des émigrés et ils se déplacent comme le font tous les émigrés. Aucune sorte de "réseau" n'est apparue et l'on sait ce qu'est un réseau pour l'action clandestine. Les preuves promises par le FBI dans ce domaine, qui est celui de sa compétence, sont singulièrement absentes. Beaucoup d'éléments fournis par le FBI à cette occasion donnent à penser qu'il s'agit de fabrications (lettres, "manuels de pilotage" en arabe! etc.).
L'Explication Ben Laden est incroyable parce qu'une assemblée de pilotes d'avion américains, civils et militaires, l'a jugée totalement invraisemblable, du point de vue technique, de la technique du pilotage. (Voir ci-dessous "The Enemy Is Inside the Gates") Les pilotes professionnels sont d'avis que des pilotes amateurs, dénués d'expérience, n'auraient certainement pas pu tenir les avions sur des trajectoires aussi précises et délicates. Ils considèrent cela comme une impossibilité absolue. Ils sont également persuadés que des pilotes professionnels, même sous menace de mort, n'auraient pas jeté les avions contre des tours. Si l'on accorde le moindre crédit à ce que pensent ensemble des pilotes civils et militaires, professionnels confirmés, on ne peut croire que dix-neuf émigrés arabes, dont certains ont pris, semble-t-il, quelques cours de pilotage, ont été ceux qui ont amené les avions à s'écraser contre les tours de New York.
Les pilotes pensent aux nouveaux systèmes qui sont en place sur les avions récents et qui permettent, justement pour éviter les détournements, de prendre le contrôle des commandes à partir du sol ou d'un aéronef situé à proximité. Ces systèmes de télé-pilotage sont parfaitement opérationnels et l'un des pilotes a ainsi raconté comment il avait "convoyé" une gros avion vide de Californie en Australie. Il était donc parfaitement possible, techniquement, de prendre le contrôle des avions "détournés" le 11 septembre, et de les mettre sur leur trajectoire fatale, sans que personne, dans l'avion, y compris les pilotes, soit en mesure d'y changer quoi que ce soit.
Nous proposons donc, à titre de supposition, qu'une volonté extérieure s'est imposée aux quatre (?) avions du 11 septembre. Cette supposition a l'avantage d'expliquer que l'on ne trouve rien de sérieux à mettre à la charge des "dix-neuf" Arabes qui se trouvaient à bord. Cette supposition a l'avantage d'expliquer comment ces événements extraordinaires ont pu avoir lieu, ce que ne peut pas faire l'Explication Ben Laden.
La conséquence de cette première supposition est évidemment une seconde supposition: cette volonté extérieure, qui a guidé les avions, est américaine.
A vrai dire, dès le premier instant de réflexion, le 11 septembre, il apparaissait que seules des personnes qui étaient extrêmement familières avec des très nombreux aspects de la vie américaine avaient pu commettre un tel acte. Quand on pense au nombre de règles sociales, pratiques et symboliques qu'il faut observer, pendant des mois, pour aboutir à coordonner de tels actes à un moment bien précis, on a tendance à écarter la possibilité pour de simples étrangers d'être autre chose que des marionnettes dans cette affaire.
Dans tous les cas, on a affaire à une conspiration. Elle peut avoir été arabe ET américaine. L'une peut avoir servi de paravent à l'autre.
Parmi les invraisemblances de l'Explication Ben Laden, on relève tout particulièrement le fait que la CIA et les autres services de renseignement américains n'avaient rien vu venir et n'avaient rien pu prévenir. Et aussi le fait que les avions de chasse qui sont en permanence chargés de la surveillance du ciel dans le district de Columbia n'ont pas été alertés. Certes, on peut attribuer ces "défaillances" à l'état lamentable de ces services, à leur nullité extrême toujours camouflée par des déclarations ronflantes d'autosatisfaction. Il est probable en effet que les services américains souffrent d'une inefficacité proche de la paralysie. Quiconque a vécu aux Etats-Unis, sous le poids de leur bureaucratie autoritaire et monstrueuse, sait qu'elle tourne en grande partie à vide.
Il est temps de présenter en entier notre supposition: un groupe très proche des sommets du pouvoir américain se réunit pour former une conspiration. Elle est rendue nécessaire, aux yeux des conspirateurs, que nous supposons, répétons-le, très proches du pouvoir réel (l'armée, les banques, les grandes entreprises) par plusieurs facteurs: la situation économique des Etats-Unis se dégrade et une crise s'approche. Bush junior a eu beaucoup de mal à arriver à la Maison Blanche, il est mal élu et, comme l'imbécile qu'il est, il se précipite sur des positions isolationnistes, qui ne peuvent qu'accroître les difficultés et les remous qui vont se présenter. L'Amérique a perdu beaucoup de ses moyens pour imposer des alliances et on voit son isolement grandir dans les forums internationaux, Seattle, Gênes, Durban.
Parallèlement se pose la question du contrôle des énormes ressources pétrolières qui ont été identifiées en Asie Centrale. Elle deviendront nécessaires quand celles du Golfe vont commencer à décliner, dans une vingtaine d'années. Depuis dix ans, toutes les tentatives américaines, essentiellement diplomatiques et commerciales pour mettre la main dessus, ont échoué à cause de la résistance des Russes, qui ont les moyens d'imposer leurs volontés aux Etats issus de l'ancienne URSS, et à cause de la perte de l'Iran, qui est maître des relations géostratégiques dans la région. L'équipe Bush comprend plusieurs spécialistes pointus de ces questions.
En même temps, et c'est là ma seconde supposition, certains groupes islamistes sont à la recherche d'un grand coup à faire contre les Etats-Unis. Les camions d'explosif mal garés dans le World Trade Center, l'attentat au camion explosif dans des immeubles habités par des soldats américains en Arabie séoudite, les attentats contre les ambassades US à Nairobi et Dar es Salaam, et contre le navire de guerre Cole dans les eaux d'Aden, relèvent tous de la même technique, relativement facile à maîtriser: un type prêt au suicide amène à pied d'oeuvre un véhicule chargé d'explosif et le fait détonner. On peut supposer que des militants islamistes, infiltrés au Etats-Unis, disposant de temps, d'argent et de quelques complicités locales, essaient d'imaginer quelque chose de ce genre-là. On a parlé de permis de conduire les poids lourds. Les leçons de pilotage permettraient de louer ou d'acheter un petit avion et de s'en servir comme véhicule pour jeter des explosifs.
Bref, ma deuxième supposition est qu'il se tramait quelque chose dans des mouvances islamistes qui n'ont peut-être, avec Ben Laden, occupé à la Djihad en Afghanistan, que des liens de courtoisie. Entre les rudes paysans des montagnes afghanes (ou tchétchènes, ou algériennes) et les occidentalisés qui ont reçu leur éducation secondaire et supérieure, intellectuelle, politique et technique, en Europe et aux Etats-Unis, on peut supposer que le dialogue reste assez formel et assez bref. La chose que les policiers appellent Al Qaida (la base) n'a probablement qu'une existence théorique.
Ma troisième supposition n'a rien d'extravagant et découle des deux premières: à savoir, les conspirateurs américains qui n'ont en tête qu'une seule chose, sauver l'Amérique de ses démons et de ses faiblesses, apprennent, par leurs services de renseignement que des islamistes arabes préparent quelque chose, un attentat plus ou moins spectaculaire. Or on sait que la plupart des mouvances islamistes ont été financées et aidées par les services américains, depuis fort longtemps. Bien avant l'occupation soviétique de l'Afghanistan (1979), les Américains soutenaient le Pakistan, première création mondiale, à l'époque moderne (1947) d'un Etat fondé sur l'islam comme théologie politique. En effet, cet Etat était fondé sur le déni et le mépris des formes politiques des pouvoirs traditionnels, comme ceux qui prévalaient et prévalent encore en Afghanistan. Les Américains, dans ces contextes, ont toujours cherché à manipuler les mouvements politiques qui affaiblissaient leurs partenaires du monde industriel occidental, vieux rivaux que les Américains ont toujours cherché, depuis le président Monroe et sa fameuse "doctrine", à éliminer, d'abord des continents américains, mais aussi, plus tard, de l'Asie, et du Moyen-Orient, et, dans une moindre mesure, de l'Afrique. La domination du monde est aussi une longue patience.
Par conséquent, pour les conspirateurs américains, il est facile de trouver les intermédiaires qui vont manipuler les militants islamistes installés en Europe et aux Etats-Unis. On va leur faire miroiter la possibilité de frapper un grand coup. Peut-être de détourner tout un tas d'avions en même temps. Il suffit de ne pas les inquiéter par des initiatives brouillonnes des services de renseignement et de faire se tenir tranquilles les services chargés de la protection aérienne. C'est très facile à faire. Le grand patron des services secrets pakistanais, l'un de ceux qui ont mis en place les talibans dans le pays voisin, est justement aux Etats-Unis depuis le 4 septembre. On peut faire la supposition, annexe et non-nécessaire, qu'il vient superviser la mise en place du dispositif.
Une fois les candidats islamistes au grand coup montés dans les avions, le tour est joué. Ils croient à "leur" opération sans se douter qu'ils jouent les figurants pour une autre. C'est le principe de l'arnaque. On prend le contrôle des avions et nous connaissons la suite. Laissons de côté ici les détails de ce qui a pu arriver au Pentagone et en Pennsylvanie. On sait que les photos de ces crashes n'ont pas été rendues publiques. Quelque chose a dû ne pas tourner rond. Ou les pilotes, ou les "détourneurs" ont dû vouloir reprendre en main la situation. Il y a là plusieurs mystères assez épais. Mais notre supposition n'a pas besoin de les éclaircir pour le moment.
La suite est intéressante. Le vice-président et le président, Cheney et Bush junior, sont embarqués par les services de protection et mis au secret. Il s'ensuit une journée de consultation téléphoniques. On peut supposer que les conspirateurs présumés exposent leurs revendications aux deux paltoquets qui n'ont aucun moyen et ne savent même pas où ils sont. Ils peuvent même être morts dans l'heure qui suit, "victimes du terrorisme". Le président Bush, dont il ne faut pas oublier qu'il est d'une extrême stupidité, se voit mettre en main les conditions préparées d'avance par les conspirateurs. Ils n'ont pas besoin de lui expliquer qu'il y a eu arnaque. Ils obtiennent facilement que Bush change de politique à 180 degrés. L'isolationniste se convertit instantanément à l'interventionnisme tous azimuts et à l'expansion impériale à toute vapeur. On lui fournit le principe d'une alliance internationale ("contre le terrorisme") qui permet au gouvernement américain d'exiger des preuves de soumission. En outre, et c'est là le point le plus extravagant, l'Explication Ben Laden permet de projeter des forces en Afghanistan, et donc de poser les premier jalons, essentiels, d'une future présence militaire américaine en Asie centrale, là où se trouvent les champs pétroliers du siècle qui s'ouvre.
Certains auteurs ont employé l'expression "coup d'Etat" pour évoquer ce qui s'est passé le 11 septembre et notre supposition les rejoint sur ce point. Si on veut bien comparer ce qu'était la candidature et les débuts de la présidence Bush avec ce qui s'est mis en place au lendemain du 11 septembre, on peut dire qu'il y a eu un coup d'Etat dans les coulisses du pouvoir. En fait, une bonne partie des activités des forces armées américaines échappent à tout contrôle. Le pouvoir civil ignore des pans entiers de l'activité des militaires. Techniquement, les USA ne sont pas loin d'être une sorte de dictature militaire camouflée. L'ancien commandant en chef est maintenant au Département d'Etat. Les jolis oiseaux qui font des sciences politiques dans les universités ne semblent pas avoir la moindre idée de ce qu'est la nature réelle du pouvoir dans le système américain. Le monde de la fiction (films, romans) est sans doute plus proche de la réalité.
Il reste à identifier les conspirateurs, les auteurs du coup d'Etat et de la grande manipulation du 11 septembre. A mon avis, il faudrait les chercher dans l'entourage du vieux président Bush. Anciens de la CIA et des grandes boîtes pétrolières, ils ont souffert de l'éclipse imposée par la période Clinton. Ils ont dû avoir l'impression que le jeune Bush était un chien fou qu'il ne fallait pas laisser courir, qu'il allait casser la baraque avec toute ses bêtises, qu'ils connaissent évidemment encore beaucoup mieux que nous. Il fallait lui faire comprendre qu'il n'était président qu'à titre de doublure. Ils avaient en outre une garantie: le président ne risquait pas de les dénoncer à l'opinion comme des conspirateurs, car il en fait partie lui-même, sans le savoir.
Tout cela est un ensemble de deux suppositions, très économiques du point de vue de la logique. Tout en affirmant que l'Explication Ben Laden est débile et incroyable, je soumets ces suppositions à la critique. Elles ne me paraissent pas prouvées, pour le moment. On peut les moduler, les raffiner ou les rejeter. Mais il paraît évident que le monde a besoin d'une explication croyable de ce qui s'est passé le 11 septembre et qui a inauguré une période de renforcement prodigieux des appareils répressifs, la plus grande avancée dans ce domaine depuis la chute du pseudo-communisme (tentative d'éliminer tout ce qui est peu ou prou anti-américain), sans parler de la première tentative d'implantation américaine en Asie centrale, à l'heure où le seul danger pour l'Amérique se trouve, sous forme encore virtuelle, dans la Chine continentale.

UN NATIONALISTE RUSSE SUR LA MÊME LIGNE!

Vladimir Jirinovsky, célèbre porte-parole de la droite dure au parlement russe a déclaré à Ottawa que les Etats-Unis avaient machiné l'attaque des tours et que Ben Laden n'avait rien à y voir. La guerre contre le terrorisme est bidon et trouve son origine dans un dollar instable, des prix du pétrole imprévisibles et un complexe militaro-indutriel qui a besoin d'un "ennemi". Il a ajouté que les Etats-Unis pouvaient capturer Ben Laden s'ils le souhaitaient réellement et qu'ils avaient touché tous les dividendes de l'opération.

Une indication ? L'avion mystérieux. Beaucoup de gens de la région de Shanksville, où s'est écrasé le quatrième avion du 11 septembre (???) ont vu, et ils l'ont raconté au journal local le Daily News, un petit jet sans immatriculation quelques instant après la chute du Vol 93. Quelques jours plus tard, les autorités ont déclaré qu'il s'agissait d'un jet privé Falcon 20 qui se dirigeait vers Johnstown et qu'on lui avait demandé de descendre et de survoler le site de l'accident. Mais l'identité du pilote n'a pas été révélée.

THE ENEMY IS INSIDE THE GATES

A dedicated group of experienced civilian and military pilots, including combat fighter pilots and commercial airline captains, just finished a marathon 72 hours of non-stop briefings and debate over the current crisis evolving from the use of commercial aircraft as cruise missiles against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on 11 September.
The so-called terrorist attack was in fact a superbly executed military operation against the United States, requiring the utmost professional military skill in command, communications and control. It was flawless in timing, in the choice of selected aircraft to be used as guided missiles, and in the coordinated delivery of those missiles to their pre-selected targets.
As a tactical military exercise against two significant targets (world financial center and the citadel of world strategic military planning), the attack, from a psychological impact on the American public, equaled the Japanese "surprise" attack on Pearl Harbor 7 Dec 1941.
The over-riding question: If we are at war, who is the enemy?
The group determined that the enemy is within the gates, that he has infiltrated into the highest policy-making positions at the Federal level, and has absolute control, not only of the purse strings, but of the troop build-up and deployment of our military forces, including active, reserve and National Guard units.
Prelude to panic
The 9-11 activity and horrific destruction of US property and lives was intentionally meant to trigger a psychological and patriotic reaction on the part of the US citizens, which is paving the way for "combined UN activity" (using the fig leaf of NATO) for striking key targets in both the Middle East/ South Asia and the Balkans. The goal continues to be ultimate destruction of all national sovereignty and establishment of a global government.
The trigger for the 9-11 activity was the imminent and unstoppable world-wide financial collapse, which can only be prevented (temporarily) by a major war, perhaps to become known as WW III. To bring it off (one more time), martial law will probably be imposed in the United States.
In each of the major wars of the 20th century, the financial manipulators (located in the City of London and New York City) had placed the US (and much of the Western world) in a monetary expansion mode, followed by an ever-tightening vice of a gigantic credit squeeze. We now have two ongoing and tightly controlled simultaneous events (emanating from the two symbolic targets of 911:
1) Alan Greenspan, Fed chairman, promising to flood the market with up to $200 billion in FRNs and to further lower interest rates, thus bringing about hyperinflation and dollar devaluation. Much of these multi billions in largesse will be dumped into the coffers of Wall Street, Defense, bankrupt airlines, insurance companies and into the willing arms of debt-ridden third-world countries in the form of debt repudiation (forgiveness). Call it bribery, in order to get these often reluctant nations to join our coalition of "freedom fighters" in "the war against terrorism".
2) Paul Wolfowitz, deputy Defense secretary, promised that the US will launch "sustained military strikes against those behind the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington". He said that the "military retaliation would continue until the roots of terrorism are destroyed."
This bit of saber rattling was seconded by select NATO allies (especially Britain), and by our chief ally in the Middle East, the Butcher of Beirut, Ariel Sharon, while Secretary of Defense Don Rumsfeld, with the blessings of Pres. Bush II, is activating thousands of national guard and reservists, not only to guard the vulnerable airports, but to do fly-overs of our Nation's capital in F16s from the North Dakota Air Guard. Other National Guard units are being jockeyed into potential combat "hot spots" throughout the Middle East/South Asia and the Balkans.
Who is the enemy?
Following is a summary of the near-unanimous views of the assembled military and civilian pilots concerning certain critical factors relating to the WTC/Pentagon hit of 9-11:
Troubling questions arose about the alleged pilot-hijackers of the four aircraft, who were supposedly trained on Cessna aircraft over the past year at fields in Florida and Oklahoma. One General officer remarked, "I seriously question whether these novices could have located a target dead-on 200 miles removed from takeoff point...-- much less controlled the flight and mastered the intricacies of 11FR (instrument flight rules) -- and all accomplished in 45 minutes."
The extremely skillful maneuvering of the three aircraft at near mach speeds, each unerringly hitting their targets, was superb. As one Air Force officer -- a veteran of over 100 sorties over North Vietnam -- explained, "Those birds (commercial airliners) either had a crack fighter pilot in the left seat, or they were being maneuvered by remote control."
Another pilot warned that "we had better consider whether electro-magnetic pulse or radio frequency weapons were used from a command and control platform hovering over the Eastern Seaboard... I'm talkin' AWACS."
Another comment: "If there was an AWACS on station over the targeted area, did it have a Global Hawk capability? I mean, could it convert the commercial jets to robotic flying missiles?
A hotly debated question: Who would be in command of such an Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS)? Were they Chinese -- Russians -- Saudis -- Israelis -- NATO ? All of these countries possess AWACS-type aircraft. All (except the Saudis) have the capability to utilize electro-magnetic pulsing (EMP) to knock out on-board flight controls and communications of targeted aircraft, and then, to fly them by remote control.
One of the Air Force officers explained that we had already flown a robot plane the size of a Boeing 737 across the Pacific to Australia -- unmanned -- from Edwards AF13 in California to a successful landing on an Aussie base in South Australia. It flies along a pre-programmed flight path, but is "monitored" (controlled remotely) by a pilot from an outside station.
He explained that the London Economist (20 Sep 2001) published comments from the former CEO of British Airways, Robert Ayling, who stated that an aircraft could be commandeered from the ground or air and controlled remotely in the event of a hijack.
Commercial jets as guided missiles
An AP story, dateline Brussels - 7 Oct 01 -- "At Washington's request, NATO will soon deploy surveillance aircraft for anti-terrorist operations in the United States in response to the attacks on New York and Washington, NATO officials said Sunday, an unprecedented use of foreign military forces to defend the U.S. homeland."
The assembled group of pilots debated why we would ask for foreign forces to fly AWACS over our sovereign territory when we have a fleet of 33 of them, of which 28 are stationed in Oklahoma. The debate also centered on whether such NATO surveillance aircraft were already here prior to 11 September.
Could one of them have commandeered the four airliners?
There seems to be wide discrepancies between what the Federal government is proclaiming -- and their media moguls reporting -- as opposed to the calm and reasoned and rational views of those men who fly the planes and defend the nation against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
This writer has been a general aviation pilot since 1946. I have flown a variety of single engine prop aircraft since, and installed an FAA-approved airstrip here on my farm in 1980. Two local pilots periodically joined me for short hops; one, a Madison County lawyer, a graduate of the Air Force Academy, who flew for the Air Force before coming home to practice law.
The other, Kent Hill, who lives with his wife, Carol, on a farm close to mine, is an American Airlines captain assigned to the European route. [...] "We were totally trained on the old type of hijack," Capt Hill said, "where you treat the hijacker cordially, punch a 4-digit code into your transponder to alert ground control you're being hijacked, and then get him where he wants to go, set the plane safely on the ground and let them deal with it on the ground. However, this is a totally new situation... Not one of the planes alerted ground control that they were being hijacked." How come?
"The fact is, all the transponders were turned off on the doomed flights virtually at the same time." Look at their departure times -- two from Logan (Boston), one from Newark, another from Dulles (Washington DC) -- all between 8 am and 8:15.
"Shortly after climb-out to flight level, their transponders are de-activated.. (they are no longer a blip on the radar screens). This is something that really needs to be looked into. The only reason we turn them off is so they don't interfere with ground systems when we land."
(Note: Transponders identify a particular aircraft in flight on the radar screens of FAA flight controllers located throughout the country. Various codes are punched into the transponder, one displaying, "I am being hijacked.")
Although there is much talk among the various flight crews, Hill says they are not privy to any of the investigations into the events of I I September. "We're in the dark -- very much so ... They're playing it pretty tight to the vest."
He is convinced none of the pilots had control of their aircraft when they were flown into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The question then becomes, who was really in control?
"Even if I had a gun at my head, I'd never fly a plane into a building. I'd try to put it in anywhere -- a field or a river --and I'd be searing the hell out of them (the hijackers) by flying upside down first," Hill said.
In fact, the pilot has the best weapon in his hand when threatened with imminent death by a hijacker, namely, the airplane.
Another airline pilot stated. "On hearing a major scuffle in the cabin, the pilot should have inverted the aircraft and the hijackers end up with broken necks."
That none of the four pilots executed such a maneuver points toward the fact that none of them had control of their aircraft, but had been overridden by an outside force, which was flying them by remote control.
As an old and not so bold pilot, I became more convinced that the four commercial jets were choreographed by a "conductor" from a central source, namely an airborne warning and control system (AWACS). They have the electronic capability to engage several aircraft simultaneously, knock out their on-board flight controls by EMP (electro-magnetic pulsing) and assume command and remote control of these targeted aircraft.
As we consider all the options -- and enemies -- who performed this act of war, whether from China, Russia, Israel, an Islamic country, or from NATO, we must also consider that the enemy may be within the gates. If so, then we are dealing with high treason.

La 4e guerre mondiale a commencé

LE néolibéralisme, comme système mondial, est une nouvelle guerre de conquête de territoires. La fin de la troisième guerre mondiale, ou guerre froide, ne signifie nullement que le monde ait surmonté la bipolarité et retrouvé la stabilité sous l'hégémonie du vainqueur. Car, s'il y a eu un vaincu (le camp socialiste), il est difficile de nommer le vainqueur. Les Etats-Unis ? L'Union européenne ? Le Japon ? Tous trois ? La défaite de l'« Empire du mal » ouvre de nouveaux marchés, dont la conquête provoque une nouvelle guerre mondiale, la quatrième.
Comme tous les conflits, celui-ci contraint les Etats nationaux à redéfinir leur identité. L'ordre mondial est revenu aux vieilles époques des conquêtes de l'Amérique, de l'Afrique et de l'Océanie. Etrange modernité qui avance à reculons. Le crépuscule du XXe siècle ressemble davantage aux siècles barbares précédents qu'au futur rationnel décrit par tant de romans de science-fiction.
De vastes territoires, des richesses et, surtout, une immense force de travail disponible attendent leur nouveau seigneur. Unique est la fonction de maître du monde, mais nombreux sont les candidats. D'où la nouvelle guerre entre ceux qui prétendent faire partie de l'« Empire du bien ».
Si la troisième guerre mondiale a vu l'affrontement du capitalisme et du socialisme sur divers terrains et avec des degrés d'intensité variables, la quatrième se livre entre grands centres financiers, sur des théâtres mondiaux et avec une formidable et constante intensité.
La « guerre froide », la mal nommée, atteignit de très hautes températures : des catacombes de l'espionnage international jusqu'à l'espace sidéral de la fameuse « guerre des étoiles » de Ronald Reagan ; des sables de la baie des Cochons, à Cuba, jusqu'au delta du Mékong, au Vietnam ; de la course effrénée aux armes nucléaires jusqu'aux coups d'Etat sauvages en Amérique latine ; des coupables manoeuvres des armées de l'OTAN aux menées des agents de la CIA en Bolivie, où fut assassiné Che Guevara. Tous ces événements ont fini par faire fondre le camp socialiste comme système mondial, et par le dissoudre comme alternative sociale.
La troisième guerre mondiale a montré les bienfaits de la « guerre totale » pour le vainqueur : le capitalisme. L'après-guerre laisse entrevoir un nouveau dispositif planétaire dont les principaux éléments conflictuels sont l'accroissement important des no man's land (du fait de la débâcle de l'Est), le développement de quelques puissances (les Etats-Unis, l'Union européenne et le Japon), la crise économique mondiale et la nouvelle révolution informatique.
Grâce aux ordinateurs, les marchés financiers, depuis les salles de change et selon leur bon plaisir, imposent leurs lois et leurs préceptes à la planète. La « mondialisation » n'est rien de plus que l'extension totalitaire de leurs logiques à tous les aspects de la vie. Naguère maîtres de l'économie, les Etats-Unis sont désormais dirigés, télédirigés, par la dynamique même du pouvoir financier : le libre-échange commercial. Et cette logique a profité de la porosité provoquée par le développement des télécommunications pour s'approprier tous les aspects de l'activité du spectre social. Enfin une guerre mondiale totalement totale ! Une de ses premières victimes est le marché national. A la manière d'une balle tirée à l'intérieur d'une pièce blindée, la guerre déclenchée par le néolibéralisme ricoche et finit par blesser le tireur. Une des bases fondamentales du pouvoir de l'Etat capitaliste moderne, le marché national, est liquidée par la canonnade de l'économie financière globale. Le nouveau capitalisme international rend les capitalismes nationaux caducs, et en affame jusqu'à l'inanition les pouvoirs publics. Le coup a été si brutal que les Etats nationaux n'ont pas la force de défendre les intérêts des citoyens.
La belle vitrine héritée de la guerre froide -- le nouvel ordre mondial -- a été brisée en mille morceaux par l'explosion néolibérale. Quelques minutes suffisent pour que les entreprises et les Etats s'effondrent ; non pas à cause du souffle des révolutions prolétariennes, mais en raison de la violence des ouragans financiers.
Le fils (le néolibéralisme) dévore le père (le capital national) et, au passage, détruit les mensonges de l'idéologie capitaliste : dans le nouvel ordre mondial, il n'y a ni démocratie, ni liberté, ni égalité, ni fraternité. La scène planétaire est transformée en nouveau champ de bataille où règne le chaos.
Vers la fin de la guerre froide, le capitalisme a créé une horreur militaire : la bombe à neutrons, arme qui détruit la vie tout en respectant les bâtiments. Mais une nouvelle merveille a été découverte à l'occasion de la quatrième guerre mondiale : la bombe financière. A la différence de celles d'Hiroshima et de Nagasaki, cette nouvelle bombe non seulement détruit la polis (ici, la nation) et impose la mort, la terreur et la misère à ceux qui y habitent, mais elle transforme sa cible en simple pièce dans le puzzle de la mondialisation économique. Le résultat de l'explosion n'est pas un tas de ruines fumantes ou des milliers de corps inertes, mais un quartier qui s'ajoute à une mégalopole commerciale du nouvel hypermarché planétaire et une force de travail reprofilée pour le nouveau marché de l'emploi planétaire. [...]
Cette mondialisation répand aussi un modèle général de pensée. L'American way of life, qui avait suivi les troupes américaines en Europe lors de la deuxième guerre mondiale, puis au Vietnam et, plus récemment, dans le Golfe, s'étend maintenant à la planète par le biais des ordinateurs. Il s'agit d'une destruction des bases matérielles des Etats-nations, mais également d'une destruction historique et culturelle. Toutes les cultures que les nations ont forgées -- le noble passé indigène de l'Amérique, la brillante civilisation européenne, la sage histoire des nations asiatiques et la richesse ancestrale de l'Afrique et de l'Océanie -- sont corrodées par le mode de vie américain. Le néolibéralisme impose ainsi la destruction de nations et de groupes de nations pour les fondre dans un seul modèle. Il s'agit donc bien d'une guerre planétaire, la pire et la plus cruelle, que le néolibéralisme livre contre l'humanité.
Nous voici face à un puzzle. Pour le reconstituer, pour comprendre le monde d'aujourd'hui, beaucoup de pièces manquent. On peut néanmoins en retrouver sept afin de pouvoir espérer que ce conflit ne s'achèvera pas par la destruction de l'humanité. Sept pièces pour dessiner, colorier, découper et tenter de reconstituer, en les assemblant à d'autres, le casse-tête mondial.
La première de ces pièces est la double accumulation de richesse et de pauvreté aux deux pôles de la société planétaire. La deuxième est l'entière exploitation du monde. La troisième est le cauchemar d'une partie désoeuvrée de l'humanité. La quatrième est la relation nauséabonde entre le pouvoir et le crime. La cinquième est la violence de l'Etat. La sixième est le mystère de la mégapolitique. La septième, ce sont les formes multiples de résistance que déploie l'humanité contre le néolibéralisme. [...]
Donnons quelques instants de réflexion à cette phrase où viennent s'encastrer les avions des Tours jumelles : "La sixième est le mystère de la mégapolitique".

CRISE DE FOIE

Ben Laden se serait fait livrer dans son repaire de Kandahar du matériel de dialyse.
 
La CIA aurait rencontré Ben Laden en juillet

Dubaï, l'un des sept émirats de la fédération des Emirats arabes unis, au nord-est d'Abu Dhabi. Cette ville de 350 000 habitants a été le théâtre discret d'une rencontre secrète entre Oussama ben Laden et le représentant de la CIA sur place, en juillet. Un homme, partenaire professionnel de la direction administrative de l'hôpital américain de Dubaï, affirme que l'ennemi public numéro un a séjourné dans cet établissement hospitalier du 4 au 14 juillet. En provenance de l'aéroport de Quetta au Pakistan, Oussama ben Laden a été transféré dès son arrivée à Dubaï Airport. Accompagné de son médecin personnel et fidèle lieutenant, qui pourrait être l'Egyptien Ayman al-Zawahari -- sur ce point les témoignages ne sont pas formels --, de quatre gardes du corps, ainsi que d'un infirmier algérien, Ben Laden a été admis à l'hôpital américain, un bâtiment de verre et de marbre situé entre Al-Garhoud Bridge et Al-Maktoum Bridge. Chaque étage comporte deux suites «VIP» et une quinzaine de chambres. Le milliardaire saoudien a été admis dans le très réputé département d'urologie du docteur Terry Callaway, spécialiste des calculs rénaux et de l'infertilité masculine. Joint par téléphone à de multiples reprises, le docteur Callaway n'a pas souhaité répondre à nos questions. En mars 2000 déjà, l'hebdomadaire Asia Week publié à Hongkong s'inquiétait de la santé de Ben Laden, faisant état d'un grave problème physique précisant que ses jours étaient en danger à cause d'une «infection rénale qui se propage au foie et nécessite des soins spécialisés». Selon des sources autorisées, Ben Laden se serait fait livrer dans son repaire afghan de Kandahar l'ensemble d'un matériel mobile de dialyse au cours du premier semestre 2000. Selon nos sources, le «déplacement pour raison de santé de Ben Laden» n'est pas le premier. Entre 1996 et 1998, Oussama ben Laden s'est rendu plusieurs fois à Dubaï pour ses affaires. Le 27 septembre, quinze jours après les attentats du World Trade Center, sur demande américaine, la Banque centrale des Emirats arabes unis a annoncé avoir ordonné le gel des comptes et des investissements de 26 personnes ou organisations soupçonnées d'entretenir des contacts avec l'organisation de Ben Laden, notamment auprès de la Dubaï Islamic Bank. «Les rapports entre l'Emirat et l'Arabie Saoudite ont toujours été très étroits, expliquent nos sources, les princes des familles régnantes qui avaient reconnu le régime des talibans se rendaient souvent en Afghanistan. Un des princes d'une famille régnante participait régulièrement à des chasses sur les terres de Ben Laden qu'il connaissait et fréquentait depuis de nombreuses années.» Une liaison aérienne entre Dubaï et Quetta est d'ailleurs quotidiennement assurée par les compagnies Pakistan Airlines et Emirates. Quant aux avions privés émiratis [sic] ou saoudiens, ils desservent fréquemment Quetta où ils ne sont la plupart du temps ni enregistrés ni consignés dans les registres de l'aéroport. Durant son hospitalisation, Oussama ben Laden a reçu la visite de plusieurs membres de sa famille, de personnalités saoudiennes et émiraties [sic] . Au cours de ce même séjour, le représentant local de la CIA, que beaucoup de gens connaissent à Dubaï, a été vu empruntant l'ascenseur principal de l'hôpital pour se rendre dans la chambre d'Oussama ben Laden. Quelques jours plus tard, l'homme de la CIA se vante devant quelques amis d'avoir rendu visite au milliardaire saoudien. De sources autorisées, l'agent de la CIA a été rappelé par sa centrale le 15 juillet, au lendemain du départ de Ben Laden pour Quetta. A la fin juillet, les douaniers émiratis arrêtent à l'aéroport de Dubaï un activiste islamiste franco-algérien, Djamel Beghal. Début août, les autorités françaises et américaines sont alertées. Interrogé par les autorités locales à Abu Dhabi, Beghal raconte qu'il a été convoqué en Afghanistan fin 2000 par Abou Zoubeida -- un responsable militaire de l'organisation de Ben Laden, Al Quaida. La mission de Beghal: faire sauter l'ambassade des Etats-Unis, avenue Gabriel, près de la place de la Concorde, à son retour en France.
Selon différentes sources diplomatiques arabes et les services de renseignements français eux-mêmes, des informations très précises ont été communiquées à la CIA concernant des attaques terroristes visant les intérêts américains dans le monde, y compris sur le territoire de l'Union. Un rapport de la DST daté du 7 septembre rassemble la totalité de ces données, précisant que l'ordre d'agir devait venir d'Afghanistan. En août, à l'ambassade des Etats-Unis à Paris, une réunion d'urgence est convoquée avec la DGSE et les plus hauts responsables des services américains. Extrêmement inquiets, ces derniers présentent à leurs homologues français des demandes de renseignements très précises concernant des activistes algériens, sans toutefois s'expliquer sur le sens général de leur démarche. A la question «que craignez-vous dans les jours qui viennent?», les Américains opposent un mutisme difficilement compréhensible. Les contacts entre la CIA et Ben Laden remontent à 1979 lorsque, représentant de la société familiale à Istamboul, il commença à enrôler des volontaires du monde arabo-musulman pour la résistance afghane contre l'Armée rouge. Enquêtant sur les attentats d'août 1998 contre les ambassades américaines de Nairobi (Kenya) et de Dar es-Salaam (Tanzanie), les enquêteurs du FBI ont découvert que les traces laissées par les charges proviennent d'un explosif militaire de l'armée américaine et que cet explosif a été livré trois ans auparavant à des Afghans arabes, les fameuses brigades internationales de volontaires, engagés au côté d'Oussama ben Laden durant la guerre d'Afghanistan contre l'armée soviétique. Poursuivant ses investigations, le FBI découvre des «montages» que la CIA avait développés avec ses «amis islamistes» depuis des années. La rencontre de Dubaï ne serait donc que la suite logique d'une «certaine politique américaine».

LECTURE

Boire la mer à Gaza, de Amira Hass, aux éditions La Fabrique [585 pages - 22,87 Euros - ISBN : 2913372163 - Octobre 2001]

Amira Hass est journaliste, correspondante dans les Territoires palestiniens du quotidien israélien Haaretz. C'est l'une des voix les plus tranchantes en Israël. Elle est de ceux qui refusent de voir dans les accords d'Oslo le nec plus ultra du pacifisme et de la volonté de dialogue, identifiant au contraire dans les présupposés et les omissions qui sont au centre de ces accords un réseau de difficultés programmant par avance l'échec de leur application.

Le livre dont il est question ici, Boire la mer à Gaza, est un recueil d'articles écrits et publiés dans le journal Haaretz, entre 1993 et 1996 (publication du livre en Israël). Le titre est tiré d'une expression arabe, signifiant familièrement "va au diable!". [On peut lire un article d'elle de novembre 2000 sur ce site même.]

Convoi pour Bethléem

Dans le roman humoristique de P. G. Woodhouse, Une Demoiselle en Péril, on peut lire cette répartie, qui irait comme un gant au président Bush: "Votre raisonnement semble ne présenter aucune faille. Mais à quoi cela nous avance-t-il ? Applaudissons l'Homme de Logique... mais qu'en est-il de l'Homme d'Action ? Qu'est-ce qu'on va bien pouvoir faire de vos belles cogitations ?"
24 octobre 2001 -- C'est la carcasse d'une Audi, flambant neuve mais "pliée" comme un paquet de cigarettes vide balancé dans un cendrier par un fumeur à la chaîne nerveux, qui nous a accueillis à l'entrée de Bethléem. Et encore, d'autres voitures, réduites à un mince feuilleté de verre et d'acier... Les équipages servant les tanks israéliens adorent écraser des bagnoles et des poubelles comme n'importe quel punk délinquant. Des petits gamins, accroupis dans un coin, étaient absorbés dans leur jeu avec des cartouches vides, mettant à profit au maximum une relâche inopinée dans les combats. Bethléem était tranquille, pour la première fois depuis le samedi 20 octobre, jour où les tanks Merkava envahirent la ville du Christ, réalisant le projet chéri de Sharon: réoccuper la Palestine.
Le calme régnait, lorsqu'une autre force prit possession des lieux : des chrétiens de Jérusalem, venus soutenir leurs voisins assiégés. Ce fut un spectacle merveilleux, évoquant le temps des croisades, où l'on voyait le convoi de la solidarité conduit par des évêques et des prélats de toute obédience, catholiques, orthodoxes et musulmans, portant croix et bannières et brisant l'encerclement du bouclage israélien pour emprunter ensuite les ruelles outrageusement défoncées qui conduisent à l'église de la Nativité. Par opposition à la croisade de Bush en Afghanistan, cette croisade-ci a été accueillie avec joie tant par les chrétiens que par les musulmans, aucune bisbille n'opposant ces deux communautés étroitement mêlées. Nous passâmes devant la carcasse brûlée de l'hôtel Paradis (qui a été atteint de plein fouet), devant des pylônes électriques cassés en deux, la partie supérieure pendouillant dans le vide, devant les photos de jeunes garçons et filles tués par les francs-tireurs israéliens, apposées sur les murs, tandis que les gens du quartier sortaient de leurs abris pour venir rejoindre le cortège.
Des chars israéliens quittèrent les rues principales et allèrent rejoindre leurs antres en se traînant lourdement, comme des dragons dérangés dans l'observation de leur proie. En chemin, j'ai rencontré des tas de vieux amis, des boutiquiers du pays, des guides. Ils étaient plutôt résignés. "Etant donné la situation, avec cette guerre qui continue, disaient-ils, il n'y a pas de touristes, pas de revenus, pas d'espoir. Jérusalem et Bethléem: soit elles tiennent debout ensemble, soit elles tombent ensemble". Bethléem est en fait une banlieue de Jérusalem: combien de fois ne suis-je pas venu, avec mes touristes et mes pèlerins dans cette ville bourgeoise aux villas spacieuses, aux magasins de souvenirs géants, aux familles gréco-palestiniennes, aux religieuses impeccables, aux meutes de touristes et aux nombreux expatriés, prospérant grâce à l'église de la Nativité, qui est un grandiose édifice de l'époque de Justinien, le plus ancien bâtiment de toute la Palestine.
L'esplanade devant l'église, la place de la Crèche (ou de la Grotte), était pleine d'habitants de la ville qui profitaient de la chance qui leur était offerte de jouir d'un peu du soleil après plusieurs jours passés derrière les volets clos. Dimanche dernier, sur le porche de l'église, un franc-tireur israélien a tué un garçon du coin, âgé de seize ans, Johnny Thaljieh, et son doux visage nous observe, depuis un poster imprimé à la hâte. Cette place a été rebâtie par l'Autorité palestinienne dans un style italianisant, il y a tout juste deux ans, avant les festivités du Millénaire. Au temps de l'administration israélienne directe, c'était un parc de stationnement sordide réservé aux jeeps de la police des frontières et aux autobus de tourisme.
Dans l'église, parmi les prêtres et les laïcs, j'ai remarqué un Américain, grand, élancé, avec une moue fière, de longs cheveux bouclés et un couvre-chef exotique. C'était le rabbin Jeremy Milgrom, du mouvement "Rabbins pour les Droits de l'Homme". "Je croyais être le seul juif, ici", me dit-il. "Je suis certain que des milliers d'Israéliens viendraient s'ils connaissaient la situation". C'est vrai. La télévision israélienne, docile comme la presse de Staline, a minimisé l'invasion et diffusé des vues bénignes de chars bienveillants surveillant des rues tranquilles. N'empêche que, la nuit d'avant, Jérusalem avait été le théâtre d'une grande manifestation de juifs réclamant l'expulsion des non-juifs de la Terre Sainte. La télévision israélienne a annoncé, le vendredi soir, juste avant l'incursion, que les deux tiers des Israéliens juifs étaient favorables à cette "solution" mortifère. Toutefois, chacun d'entre nous a la liberté de choisir, et le rabbin Milgrom a choisi un judaïsme vivable. J'étais terriblement heureux de le voir: Dieu sait, peut-être cette Sodome a-t-elle seulement besoin de quelques justes ?
Dans l'église, il y avait des trous dans les pierres, laissés par les impacts de balles: les équipages des chars israéliens s'entraînent à utiliser les mitrailleuses lourdes qui hérissent leurs tourelles en tirant sur le berceau du Christ. Cela me rappela un ouvrage de William Dalrymple, qualifié de "splendide, efficace et impressionnant" par la critique du Financial Times, "Depuis la Montagne Sainte" [Harper Collins Publishers, 1997. ISBN 0 00 6547745 - <http://www.fireandwater.com>]: il y dit que, "au cours d'une flambée d'attaques contre les propriétés de l'Eglise, en Israël, une église de Jérusalem, une chapelle baptiste et une librairie chrétienne avaient été entièrement brûlées. Il y avait eu des tentatives d'incendier les églises anglicanes de Jérusalem Ouest et de Ramleh, ainsi que deux églises à Saint-Jean d'Acre. Le cimetière protestant du Mont Sion avait été profané, pas moins de huit fois."
Il aurait pu ajouter l'histoire de Daniel Koren, ce soldat israélien qui a pulvérisé sous ses balles les icônes du Christ et de la Vierge Marie dans l'église Saint-Antoine de Jaffa. Dalrymple mentionne les agissements du maire conservateur de Jérusalem, Ehud Olmert, qui a ordonné la destruction des fondations de monastères chrétiens et d'églises, récemment découvertes à Jérusalem, au cours de fouilles archéologiques, afin d'occulter même le souvenir de la présence chrétienne en Terre Sainte. C'est le même Ehud Olmert qui a détruit (dans sa ville) trois autres maisons palestiniennes, ce matin, tandis que nous parcourions les rues de Bethléem.
Dans la Grotte de la Nativité, quelques cierges étaient allumés et une famille palestinienne priait en silence devant l'Etoile, comme le faisaient leurs ancêtres, depuis le cruel prédécesseur de Sharon, le roi Hérode le Grand. Et j'ai pensé que cette coïncidence était bien étrange: pourquoi cette invasion a-t-elle commencé juste au moment où les bombardiers de l'armée américaine écrasent les villes afghanes? Apparemment, le gouvernement de Sharon a décidé de profiter de l'expédition américaine en Afghanistan pour reconquérir la Palestine. Au milieu d'un désastre, le voleur ne voit qu'une occasion de voler. Tandis que nos yeux sont fixés sur les déserts, au-delà de la rivière Oxus, tandis que les Américains sont rendus fous d'angoisse par un peu de poudre blanche dans une enveloppe, tandis que les organisations humanitaires maugréent devant les masses d'Afghans affamés, tandis que la flotte anglo-américaine fait obstacle à l'aide qui pourrait venir d'Irak ou de Syrie, les Israéliens s'emparent de ce qui reste de la Palestine et éradiquent la mémoire du Christ de Sa terre natale.
Les partisans de Sharon, dans la presse américaine, lui ont apporté leur soutien en faisant monter d'un ton leur vague de ratonnades et leur chant de guerre raciste. "Les traits fuyants, retors, pas nets -- bref, sémitiques -- d'un Ben Laden caricaturé transparaissent dans chaque bulletin d'information: appel à peine dissimulé au racisme du téléspectateur américain. Le Dr Joseph Goebbels n'aurait pas fait mieux", a dit l'historien anglais David Irving, pour commenter la situation américaine. Il sait de quoi il parle: il est le biographe mondialement reconnu de Goebbels...
Le président Bush a demandé qu'Israël se retire immédiatement. Il l'a fait sotto voce, tout en disant par ailleurs qu'"il n'y aurait pas de discussion avec les Afghans". Nous verrons bien qui l'emportera, si les remontrances du Président atteignent Israël, si ce coup de gueule est effectivement suivi d'un coup de canine.
Après la grande église, notre procession se rendit à Beit Jala, une cité jumelle de Bethléem. Les deux hôpitaux de Beit Jala ont été bombardés, dix personnes ont été tuées dans cette localité par des tirs israéliens aléatoires, au petit bonheur la chance. Les familles touchées étaient réunies dans la cour de l'église, portant des portraits de leurs proches disparus et recevant les condoléances.
Particulièrement touchante, la beauté frappante de Rania Elias, une jeune fille de vingt ans, tuée par une roquette israélienne dans son lit même. Sur son portrait, elle portait une robe de mariée immaculée: ce fut son linceul.
Beit Jala est sombre, mais debout. Dans ses rues, des jeunes hommes munis de mitraillettes AK. "C'est le Tanzim", expliqua en français un prêtre à un de ses frères en religion. Les gars du Tanzim qui avançaient au pas de charge me rappelaient, avec leur béret sur la tête, les jeunes "barbudos" de Fidel Castro, un peu comme si la révolution palestinienne était en train de connaître une deuxième jeunesse. Leur défilé parti, les chars avancèrent et le chant des armes légères se faisant écho au-dessus des villes jumelles se fit entendre.
Un chauffeur de taxi juif, colosse au teint basané, me prit en charge devant le barrage de contrôle. L'énorme volant de sa Mercédès tournait comme un joujou dans ses énormes paluches. Il ressemblait comme deux gouttes d'eau à un guérillero imposant du Tanzim, que j'avais vu un quart d'heure plus tôt à un kilomètre de là, dans le camp de réfugiés d'Aida. "J'ai vécu toute ma vie avec des Arabes", me dit le chauffeur de taxi. "Ma femme me dit que je suis Arabe de coeur. Nous devrions vivre ensemble. Les choses étant ce qu'elles sont actuellement, avec cette guerre qui continue, il n'y a pas de touristes, pas d'argent, pas d'espoir. Jérusalem et Bethléhem ? Soit elles sont debout ensemble, soit elles s'écroulent ensemble"...
Eh oui, n'en déplaise au lavage de cerveau officiel, il y a une compréhension, des deux côtés de la grande "Séparation". La Terre Sainte est indivisible. Elle doit être entretenue conjointement par nous tous, dans l'égalité. Il y a assez d'espace pour prier, pour jouer, pour cultiver des oliviers, pour écrire des programmes informatiques et pour piloter des touristes. Les chars doivent partir et, avec eux, la frontière artificiellement tracée entre Israël et la Palestine.

I received a few responses objecting to the 'Judaeo-Nazi' term of reference. Some people thought it implies 'all Jews are Nazis' and liable to cause hate. As a matter of fact, it has an opposite meaning, 'just some Jews -- (Zeevi, Kahana, Sharon, Mofaz, Olmert, Netanyahu) and their adepts and supporters in Israel and in the US -- behave like Nazis'. In the same vein, the expressions 'German Nazis' or 'Islamist fanatics' or 'American imperialists' are references of caveat, meaning that not all Germans are Nazis, not all Islamists are fanatics, not all Americans are imperialists. Otherwise we would use just one word instead of two.
The expression 'Judaeo-Nazis' was coined by the late lamented and much admired Jerusalem University Professor Yeshayahu Leibovitch, the great expert on Maimonides, a believing and practicing Orthodox Jew. A teacher of mine, Prof. Leibovitch conceived the agressive and brutish breed of Israeli nationalists as a Nazi-like deviation from normative Judaism. This modest native of Riga who made Jerusalem his home, a true genius with nine different doctor's decrees, fluent in many tongues, who knew Talmud by heart and followed its commandments, he saw in the Israeli conquest of the Temple Mount (haram ash-Sharif) in Jerusalem the fulfilment of the verse 'his army will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress (Daniel 11:31) and set up abomination', that is Israeli banner and arms. For Professor Leibovitch, ill-treatment of Palestinians was a betrayal of every positive Jewish trend. While good Germans Ernst Thälmann and Bertold Brecht were fighting against German Nazis, good Jews could and should confront the Judeo-Nazis.
I know and love many wonderful men and women of Jewish origin, in Israel and elsewhere. Sometimes they write to me: 'we also feel ourselves Palestinians'. Such people are a great promise. Jewish mystics say that a spark of the soul of Messiah, the Christ, is present in many souls of Jews, 'the true Israel'. It is equally present in the souls of the Palestinians, the descendents of Abraham, David and apostles. Full union with our brothers and sisters the Palestinians is a great spiritual correction, as spoken by Hosea: 'say of your Palestinian brothers, 'my people', and of your Palestinian sisters, 'my loved one' (2:1). I surely call to love rather than hate, as it is said, 'hate evil deeds, not the evil-doers', 'seek repentance, not vengeance'. That is why I support the return of the Palestinian refugees and call for full brotherly equality of all communities in Palestine.

Du temps où elle ne faisait pas encore l'apologie du sionisme mondain, la Revue d'Etudes palestiniennes a publié des textes de Yeshayahu Leibovitch, et d'Israël Shahak, tous deux maintenahnt décédés, qui montraient comment l'Etat juif en était venu à appliquer une politique identique à celle des nazis (doctrine du "sol et du sang", Blut und Boden, de l'espace vital, Lebensraum, de la ségrégation et de la supériorité raciales, etc. La figure, le passé et les propos d'une brutalité inouïe d'Ariel Sharon (voir son autobiographie, Mémoires, avec David Chanoff, Stock, 1990, 668 p.) montrent ce qu'est la genèse d'un jeune fasciste, sa promotion par le massacre, et son destin de Chef. Ceux qui se privent d'explorer les innombrables connexions souterraines qui font du nazisme et du sionisme les descendants du même nationalisme ethnico-raciste que produisit le XIXe siècle, se condamnent à ne rien comprendre à ce qui se passe en Palestine depuis un siècle.

"La vengeance est mienne" dit l'armée israélienne

Pas besoin d'attendre Dieu pour venger le sang du ministre assassiné Rehavam Zeevi.
L'armée israélienne l'a déjà fait en son nom. La demande d'un fils sur la tombe de son père n'a probablement jamais auparavant été satisfaite de façon aussi expéditive et efficace que celle de Yiftah Palmach Zeevi, demande qu'il a faite au premier ministre à l'enterrement de son père: "Arik" (diminutif de Ariel, prénom de Sharon) venge-toi comme "Gandhi" (surnom donné à Zeevi) l'aurait fait" et "Arik" a effectivement fait ce que "Gandhi" aurait fait, et la doctrine des représailles de Zeevi a été appliquée.
Même l'effroyable souhait du journaliste Ronel Fisher diffusé sur le programme culturel de radio 8, appelant Israël à tuer cinquante Palestiniens pour chaque juif tué, a été réalisé. Plus de quarante Palestiniens, à peu près la moitié d'entre eux des civils -- dont quatre femmes et quatre enfants -- ont déjà été tués au cours de la campagne lancée par l'armée israélienne à la suite de l'assassinat. Des douzaines ont été blessés, des maisons ont été démolies. Des voitures ont été aplaties et des milliers de personnes ont été emprisonnées dans la terreur, sous une occupation cruelle.
C'est le prix que l'on fait payer aux Palestiniens pour l'assassinat du ministre -- un meurtre qui a été perpétré par un petit groupe. Les 186 victimes juives de l'actuelle Intifada , précédant l'assassinat de Zeevi, incluant les victimes -- parmi elles des enfants -- des attaques principales dans les centres des villes, n'avaient pas amené le gouvernement à se lancer dans des campagnes punitives de l'ampleur de celle conduite après le meurtre de l'un de ses membres. Ceci aussi doit être signalé.
L'invasion israélienne de six villes de Cisjordanie peut être décrite à l'origine comme une mission de vengeance, parce qu'il est évident qu'il n'y a pas de rapport entre la capture, à Beit Rima et Azariya, de ceux qui ont commis cet assassinat et la réoccupation des faubourgs de Bethlehem et Jenin. Nul n'a besoin d'être un grand expert en matière de terrorisme pour comprendre que, d'une part l'on ne chasse pas les terroristes avec des chars et que d'autre part le terrorisme ne peut être éradiqué avec des blindés. Dans l'esprit d'une autre campagne de vengeance - pas moins cruelle - que les Etats Unis conduisent en Afghanistan, et qui a aussi peu de rapport avec l'élimination du terrorisme, l'armée israélienne a pénétré profondément dans des quartiers résidentiels, dont les habitants n'ont rien a voir avec le terrorisme, pour y imposer un régime de chars et blindés.
Il faut constater l'horreur qui saisit les habitants de Beit Jala et leurs enfants quand un char israélien ou un blindé roule dans un grondement à travers leurs rues pour bien comprendre le choc que cela représente. Et quelle faute faire payer aux habitants de Ramallah, qui sont maintenant prisonniers dans leurs propres maisons, où beaucoup d'entre eux manquent de nourriture et de médicaments ? Ils n'ont rien à voir avec l'assassinat de Rehavam Zeevi et il y en a certainement parmi eux qui sont contre ce type d'actions.
Mais les campagnes de vengeance ont leur propre dynamique : "on punit aussi l'entourage de l'homme mauvais", comme Zeevi lui-même le disait dans l'un de ses derniers entretiens, en réponse à une question posée sur l'assassinat d'un bébé tué par une bombe tirée par l'armée israélienne sur sa maison à Gaza. Rania Haroufi, 24 ans, mère de deux enfants, a été tuée la semaine dernière alors qu'elle fuyait une zone de combat. Ayacha Abu Oudeh, mère de huit enfants, a été tuée alors qu'elle allait rendre visite a sa famille.
Elles et bien d'autres, étaient d'innocentes victimes, et aux yeux des Palestiniens, ce sont des victimes du terrorisme.
La campagne de vengeance du gouvernement ne s'est pas limitée aux incursions israéliennes profondes dans les territoires palestiniens. Elle a été accompagnée, cette fois, par des actes particulièrement brutaux: l'armée israélienne, par exemple, a tiré sur l'hôpital Al Hussein de Beit Jala -- le seul hôpital dans la région de Bethléem. L'hôpital a dû publier une annonce informant que les blessés des combats de cette journée ne devraient pas s'y présenter, à cause des tirs. Un jeune homme a été tué et un autre blessé juste devant les urgences de l'hôpital.
La présidente des médecins pour les droits humains, le docteur Ruhama Martoun, qui visitait l'hôpital, a rapporté qu'elle a vu de ses propres yeux les méfaits des tirs et des bombardements sur les murs du bâtiment et les ambulances garées à proximité. L'armée israélienne a également bombardé une maternité à Bethléem. Après deux jours de siège, le service des prématurés a été évacué. Même pendant les jours les plus sombres de l'Intifada précédente, l'armée israélienne n'avait pas ouvert le feu sur les hôpitaux.
Il y a eu également des actes de vengeance privés de plus petite envergure, par exemple, les voitures garées dans les rues de Beit Jala ont été écrasées par les chars qui se déplaçaient dans le village. Y a-t-il le moindre rapport avec la guerre contre le terrorisme ? La même question peut être posée à propos des poteaux de téléphone qui ont été détruits par les charsd, isolant des quartiers entiers du monde extérieur, au beau milieu d'une période de peur et d'anxiété. Les poteaux ne gênaient pas les chars -- les rues sont suffisamment larges -- de même que les voitures garées n'avaient pas à être écrasées par les chenilles des chars. Leur destruction intentionnelle était uniquement un acte de vengeance punitif, et peut être même ne s'agissait-il que de satisfaire le désir de "récompense" des soldats. Cependant, ces actions sèment toujours plus de haine dans les coeurs des habitants.
Regardez les photos exaspérantes dans l'édition de vendredi du journal à grand tirage Yedioth Aharonoth -- le soldat souriant étalé sur un lit dans un hôtel de Bethléem, les soldats assis gloussant de satisfaction dans les fauteuils d'un salon d'une maison palestinienne près de Tulkarem.
"Le pire c'est qu'on ne sait même pas pourquoi on a fait tout ça" a confié jeudi un officier supérieur au correspondant militaire de Haaretz Amos Harel "tout le monde sait que nous finirons par partir, la queue entre les jambes. Alors qu'avons-nous gagné, et qu'espérons-nous obtenir ensuite?"
Les réponses aux questions de l'officier vont en effet de soi: la semaine dernière l'armée israélienne a lancé une campagne de vengeance sur ordre du gouvernement israélien, et cela dans l'esprit des infamants raids de représailles de l'Unité 101 (sous le commandement d'Ariel Sharon) des années 50. Cette fois, aussi, la mission a été exécutée avec succès et le but entièrement atteint. Les forces de défense israéliennes [Note de l'AAARGH: nom que se donne l'armée terroriste sioniste.] sont devenues, tout du moins la semaine dernière, les forces de vengeance israéliennes.

Insultes et violences contre des élèves d'une école chrétienne, provenant de lycéens juifs (vous savez, ceux que tout le monde persécute dans le monde entier, alors qu'ils sont si gentils à tous les âges) "plus grands": on connaît le principe sioniste, toujours s'attaquer au plus faible que soi, c'est la seule chance qu'on a de gagner. Quant à la police, convoquée, elle refuse de faire une enquête. Franchement, on préfère être à la place des lycéens chrétiens, même si ça fait mal...

Judios linchan a estudiantes cristianos frente a autoridades
En Israel. Un sacerdote que dirige una escuela cristiana en Israel denunció el salvaje ataque perpetrado por un grupo de estudiantes hebreos contra sus alumnos ante la indiferencia de policías, funcionarios y autoridades educativas. En declaraciones a la agencia Fides, el P. Arturo Vasaturo, párroco de la iglesia católica de Jaffa en Tel Aviv y director de la escuela Tierra Santa, señaló que el 25 de octubre pasado unos 42 estudiantes de 14 y 15 años fueron golpeados y apaleados en Ber Sheva.
Según el Padre Vasaturo, las víctimas realizaron una excursión al Negev y de regreso a casa, el grupo se detuvo en la tienda McDonald de Ber Sheva. Hacia las 18.30 p.m. estaban solos en el restaurante y quince minutos después llegaron seis autobuses de una escuela hebrea, con estudiantes del último año de liceo.
Según la maestra Sheika Helawi, "apenas los estudiantes hebreos entraron en el restaurante, al oír hablar en árabe a nuestros estudiantes, comenzaron a reírse de ellos, empujarles, insultarles e incluso atacarles en los baños". "Algunos de nuestros estudiantes escuchaban música y los estudiantes hebreos les ordenaron apagar la radio. A su rechazo, uno de ellos abofeteó a uno de nuestros muchachos y, en un segundo, al menos 60 estudiantes hebreos más grandes atacaron a nuestro grupo a patadas, golpeándoles con bastones, lanzando piedras y amenazándoles", indicó.
La maestra agregó que el primer muchacho abofeteado, de nombre Mario, "se mareó y cayó a tierra. Un amigo suyo trató de ayudarle, siendo amenazado por un muchacho hebreo armado de cuchillo". "Nosotros corrimos hacia nuestro autobús, el único lugar donde podíamos repararnos. Desgraciadamente, aquellos que se cayeron o fueron detenidos en el restaurante, continuaron siendo atacados y pisoteados", agregó. Según la maestra, durante el enfrentamiento, los guardias de escolta no se movieron para ayudar a los estudiantes ni calmar a los agresores
"Cuando llegó la policía no quiso saber ni el nombre de la escuela de la que provenían los estudiantes hebreos. Probablemente eran de una escuela de Jerusalén. Un maestro insistió en que identificaran a algunos de los agresores, pero la policía no quiso asumir esta responsabilidad", indicó la maestra. De regreso a casa, los estudiantes se encontraban en un estado de pánico y agitación. "Algunos no podían ni respirar y estaban bajo shock. Llamamos a una ambulancia, pero el personal paramédico rechazó prestar socorro. Faltó poco para que uno de los muchachos fuera asesinado. Me pregunto: ¿quién es el que quiere llevar la segunda intifada al corazón de Israel?", cuestionó la maestra.
El P. Vasaturo acusó que el alcalde de Jaffa-Tel Aviv "rechazó hacer una visita incluso de sólo cinco minutos a los muchachos golpeados. Me pidió que no fuera pedante en mi petición y me dijo que estaba demasiado ocupado como para ocuparse de los muchachos de su ciudad".

HIDDEN AGENDA BEHIND WAR ON TERROR

The war against terrorism is a fraud. After three weeks' bombing, not a single terrorist implicated in the attacks on America has been caught or killed in Afghanistan.
Instead, one of the poorest, most stricken nations has been terrorised by the most powerful -- to the point where American pilots have run out of dubious "military" targets and are now destroying mud houses, a hospital, Red Cross warehouses, lorries carrying refugees.
Unlike the relentless pictures from New York, we are seeing almost nothing of this. Tony Blair has yet to tell us what the violent death of children -- seven in one family -- has to do with Osama bin Laden.
And why are cluster bombs being used? The British public should know about these bombs, which the RAF also uses. They spray hundreds of bomblets that have only one purpose; to kill and maim people. Those that do not explode lie on the ground like landmines, waiting for people to step on them.
If ever a weapon was designed specifically for acts of terrorism, this is it. I have seen the victims of American cluster weapons in other countries, such as the Laotian toddler who picked one up and had her right leg and face blown off. Be assured this is now happening in Afghanistan, in your name.
None of those directly involved in the September 11 atrocity was Afghani. Most were Saudis, who apparently did their planning and training in Germany and the United States.
The camps which the Taliban allowed bin Laden to use were emptied weeks ago. Moreover, the Taliban itself is a creation of the Americans and the British. In the 1980s, the tribal army that produced them was funded by the CIA and trained by the SAS to fight the Russians.
The hypocrisy does not stop there. When the Taliban took Kabul in 1996, Washington said nothing. Why? Because Taliban leaders were soon on their way to Houston, Texas, to be entertained by executives of the oil company, Unocal.
With secret US government approval, the company offered them a generous cut of the profits of the oil and gas pumped through a pipeline that the Americans wanted to build from Soviet central Asia through Afghanistan.
A US diplomat said: "The Taliban will probably develop like the Saudis did." He explained that Afghanistan would become an American oil colony, there would be huge profits for the West, no democracy and the legal persecution of women. "We can live with that," he said.
Although the deal fell through, it remains an urgent priority of the administration of George W. Bush, which is steeped in the oil industry. Bush's concealed agenda is to exploit the oil and gas reserves in the Caspian basin, the greatest source of untapped fossil fuel on earth and enough, according to one estimate, to meet America's voracious energy needs for a generation. Only if the pipeline runs through Afghanistan can the Americans hope to control it.
So, not surprisingly, US Secretary of State Colin Powell is now referring to "moderate" Taliban, who will join an American-sponsored "loose federation" to run Afghanistan. The "war on terrorism" is a cover for this: a means of achieving American strategic aims that lie behind the flag-waving facade of great power.
The Royal Marines, who will do the real dirty work, will be little more than mercenaries for Washington's imperial ambitions, not to mention the extraordinary pretensions of Blair himself. Having made Britain a target for terrorism with his bellicose "shoulder to shoulder" with Bush nonsense, he is now prepared to send troops to a battlefield where the goals are so uncertain that even the Chief of the Defence Staff says the conflict "could last 50 years".
The irresponsibility of this is breathtaking; the pressure on Pakistan alone could ignite an unprecedented crisis across the Indian sub-continent. Having reported many wars, I am always struck by the absurdity of effete politicians eager to wave farewell to young soldiers, but who themselves would not say boo to a Taliban goose.
In the days of gunboats, our imperial leaders covered their violence in the "morality" of their actions. Blair is no different. Like them, his selective moralising omits the most basic truth. Nothing justified the killing of innocent people in America on September 11, and nothing justifies the killing of innocent people anywhere else.
By killing innocents in Afghanistan, Blair and Bush stoop to the level of the criminal outrage in New York. Once you cluster bomb, "mistakes" and "blunders" are a pretence. Murder is murder, regardless of whether you crash a plane into a building or order and collude with it from the Oval Office and Downing Street.
If Blair was really opposed to all forms of terrorism, he would get Britain out of the arms trade. On the day of the twin towers attack, an "arms fair", selling weapons of terror (like cluster bombs and missiles) to assorted tyrants and human rights abusers, opened in London's Docklands with the full backing of the Blair government.
Britain's biggest arms customer is the medieval Saudi regime, which beheads heretics and spawned the religious fanaticism of the Taliban.
If he really wanted to demonstrate "the moral fibre of Britain", Blair would do everything in his power to lift the threat of violence in those parts of the world where there is great and justifiable grievance and anger.
He would do more than make gestures; he would demand that Israel ends its illegal occupation of Palestine and withdraw to its borders prior to the 1967 war, as ordered by the Security Council, of which Britain is a permanent member.
He would call for an end to the genocidal blockade which the UN -- in reality, America and Britain -- has imposed on the suffering people of Iraq for more than a decade, causing the deaths of half a million children under the age of five.
That's more deaths of infants every month than the number killed in the World Trade Center.
There are signs that Washington is about to extend its current "war" to Iraq; yet unknown to most of us, almost every day RAF and American aircraft already bomb Iraq. There are no headlines. There is nothing on the TV news. This terror is the longest-running Anglo-American bombing campaign since World War Two.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the US and Britain faced a "dilemma" in Iraq, because "few targets remain". "We're down to the last outhouse," said a US official. That was two years ago, and they're still bombing. The cost to the British taxpayer? £800 million so far.
According to an internal UN report, covering a five-month period, 41 per cent of the casualties are civilians. In northern Iraq, I met a woman whose husband and four children were among the deaths listed in the report. He was a shepherd, who was tending his sheep with his elderly father and his children when two planes attacked them, each making a sweep. It was an open valley; there were no military targets nearby.
"I want to see the pilot who did this," said the widow at the graveside of her entire family. For them, there was no service in St Paul's Cathedral with the Queen in attendance; no rock concert with Paul McCartney.
The tragedy of the Iraqis, and the Palestinians, and the Afghanis is a truth that is the very opposite of their caricatures in much of the Western media.
Far from being the terrorists of the world, the overwhelming majority of the Islamic peoples of the Middle East and south Asia have been its victims -- victims largely of the West's exploitation of precious natural resources in or near their countries.
There is no war on terrorism. If there was, the Royal Marines and the SAS would be storming the beaches of Florida, where more CIA-funded terrorists, ex-Latin American dictators and torturers, are given refuge than anywhere on earth.
There is, however, a continuing war of the powerful against the powerless, with new excuses, new hidden agendas, new lies. Before another child dies violently, or quietly from starvation, before new fanatics are created in both the east and the west, it is time for the people of Britain to make their voices heard and to stop this fraudulent war -- and to demand the kind of bold, imaginative non-violent initiatives that require real political courage.
The other day, the parents of Greg Rodriguez, a young man who died in the World Trade Center, said this: "We read enough of the news to sense that our government is heading in the direction of violent revenge, with the prospect of sons, daughters, parents, friends in distant lands dying, suffering, and nursing further grievances against us.
"It is not the way to go...not in our son's name."

The belief and Torah teaching during Exile

On the contrary; we have to be humble and accept the yoke of exile. To violate the oaths would result in "your flesh will be made prey as the deer and the antelope in the forest," and the redemption will be delayed. (Talmud Tractate Ksubos 111). To violate the oaths is not only a sin, it is a heresy because it is against the fundamentals of our Belief.
Before the Almighty gave us the Holy Land 3268 years ago, He made these conditions: If we will abide by the Torah, it is ours; if not, we will be expelled. Alas, we sinned, and we were exiled from the land "Umipnay chatoenu golenu mayartsenu". Only through complete repentance will the Almighty alone, without any human effort or intervention, redeem us from exile. This will be after G'd will send the prophet Eliyu and Moshiach who will make all Jews do complete repentance. At that time there will be universal peace.
Any suffering in exile is a punishment from G'd and we cannot do anything about it on our own because nations where we suffered are only instruments of G'd's anger at our misdeeds (Hebrew text here). The Torah teaches us how to survive during exile (Hebrew text here) by being humble (not vindictive, demanding or vengeful). The Torah gives an example of this and says that in the ocean one must go under the wave (Talmud Tractate: Yevomus 121). We have to take the punishment; if we go against it, we will suffer more. The only way to alleviate suffering in exile is through repentance. We must mend our ways and pray that G'd should not punish us again.
The Jewish people remained faithful to the Belief for over 1800 years and dealt with the problems of exile accordingly and never asked for things taken from them until the advent of Zionism 100 years ago.
Zionist exile politics
The Zionists do not believe that Jews are a special nation (Hebrew text here) but they say that Jews are a nationalistic people, a nation like all the nations, and can solve their problems by their own power (Hebrew text here) using the slogan "Never Again!" They say that we Jews were exiled because we had a weak army and suffer in exile because we are not standing up physically and politically, are not speaking out loudly, unashamedly, are letting ourselves be trampled on and are not demanding restitution. They claim that with a strong army we can remove ourselves from exile. By using the new atheist exile politics they provoked and increased anti-Semitism in Europe which led to the Second World War and the destruction of European Jewry. All the great Rabbis have warned of the terrible consequences of the Zionist heresy. The same exile politics has caused the problems in the Middle East where Jews lived peacefully with the Arabs until the advent of Zionism. Now the same tactics are being used against the Swiss and other nations.
The act alone of seeking compensation and restitution from a nation -- even without threats -- provokes anti-Semitism, whether or not they receive what they ask. Anti-Semitism is a phenomenon serving the basic goal of Zionism -- to increase immigration to their state. This is evidenced by the fact that the whole campaign against the Swiss was initiated in the Zionist state by Avraham Burg, head of the Jewish Agency (the Zionist organization promoting immigration to the Zionist state).

A BEACON OF SAVAGERY
Once again, the world has to contemplate savagery. The American strikes on Sudan and Afghanistan have certain characteristics. It is war without soldiers. High flying explosives. Nobody to set the fire. The American Soldier is known, since 1917, as a coward: he would not go into combat without a strong, prolonged, extensive and intensive artillery preparation. The American Soldier is not willing to see his opponents' eyes. The American Soldier steps into the battlefield when everything standing has been levelled to the ground and after the smoke is gone. The last time when the American Soldier was attacked, without preparation, by foot soldiers running at the sound of the bugles, the American Soldier ran away, from the Yalu to the Japan sea, all through the Korean peninsula, in 1952, the Chinese infantry on his heels. The American Soldier came back north only after the peninsula had been razed to the ground by the airforce.
In Vietnam, the American Soldier did not move a toe before the planes and the long range artillery had mowed the ground in front of him. The American Journalist complained that Victor Charlie was elusive, invisible, always hidden. The reason was that the Americain Soldier did not dare to venture in the field without an umbrella. And the American Soldier, who had laid millions of tons of bombs on the bamboo groves, left Indochina in great disarray. The enemy had dug in and the bombs, all sorts of bombs (incendiary, fragmentation, air-sucking) were not enough.
As a revenge, the American Soldier was disembarked in Grenada and took it. In three days. Against 200 enemies. Then the American Soldier took Panama City, killed 2000 and arrested one, its own former spy, Noriega. Halelujah! Then came the Gulf War. The American soldier slept in the desert for a while. Higher up, the old B-52 were turning Irakis into hamburgers. Some costly missiles were fired and many got lost. The Furtive Bomber was paralyzed by the dew. The American Soldier did not see action, because action was deemed too dangerous for him, but he came back sick. He complained that the shells were deleterious. The American Soldier is a useless idiot.
Now the American government is going to dispense with him entirely. Madeleine Albright, looking like Snowhite's stepmother, said the recent US bombing in Afghanistan and the Sudan are the beginning of a prolonged war, "the war of the future", she said on TV. No more American Soldier. Just boats at the high seas, firing long range cruise missiles under the guidance of satellites. Soon enough, the boats will be dispensed off. One guy in his armchair, President Bill Openfly, will press a button in the Oval Room, between two shots at some intern's throat. A misssile will fly somewhere, possibly with an atomic warhead, and will hit a target: like a drug factory, a soccer field, a hospital, a nursery or some other place which has been pinpointed on a map by the American Electronic Spy who has determined that in the vicinity of this structure, some seditious or anti-American words have been issued by some ill-intentioned characters. President Openfly will be satisfied that nipping terrorism in the bud requires serious attention and dedicated action in order to protect American interests. The results of the bombings will be assessed in a couple of months, when the dust is completely settled down. While these interesting develoments take place, the American Journalist will go on the air telling a tale of civilization against barbarism. As a pure coincidence, all these bombings take place in muslim countries. Of course, it is well known that these muslim countries are places of barbarism. President Bill Openfly will now teach the muslims how to be good and civilized muslims because he knows best. If the muslims understand how to be good and avoid being bombed out, they must start to lick the feet of the American Soldier, nicely give their land and house to the cute Jewish Boy from Brooklyn or Moscow who needs a place on earth, because apparently Brooklyn and Moscow are too small for him, and applaud generally to the Hollywood screenshit. The very good muslim, who licks the ass of Mr President Openfly, may even have a sentimental treat: the President will make war against his local enemies, like in Koweit or in Bosnia, those Disneyesque creations of the poets who sit in the Foreign Office or at State. The destroyed facilities will be generally qualified as "chemical plants preparing chemical weapons" or, as Madeleine Notsobright said, "the precursors of chemical weapons". What is not a "precursor" of something bad? Is not Madeleine herself a "precursor" of something possibly uglier? We have heard that song already last time they bombed Lybia. Now Khartoum. Whoever has been once in Khartoum would laugh at the idea of an "advanced" technical plant of any sort there. Afghanistan and Sudan happen to be among the poorest countries in the world, places were most eveything is still made by the hand of toiling men and women. Of course, these bombings are symbolic in their content. They hit places which have no importance at all. They are meant to say to the world: look, the American soldier is the Police, he strikes the bad guys, just like in the movies. At the same time, these blind acts of savagery reveal the lack of thinking and the sheer impotence of the powers who decide them. It entirely justifies Mr. ben Laden who has been reported as saying "The Americans are the biggest pirates and robbers of the world". This is true. This truth was uttered, in the past, mostly by the Communists. It is now uttered by the Muslims. But there is nos reason to believe that Islam will be wiped out as Communism has been discarded. For reasons best analyzed by George Orwell in "1984", Big Brother is in need of an Official Enemy. And it has choosen the Muslims. This has a consequence: all decent thinking autonomous human beings, irrespective of creed or faith, will side with the newly elected Official Enemy in order to get rid of the world Tyranny, jointly exercised by the USA and Israel, with the sheepish agreement of Europe and Japan. The 20th century has been the century of dictatorships. This is true. But it is equally true that most of them crumbled down. Except this one. The ridiculous bombings of desert's sands, with 75 missiles costing one million dollars apiece, gives us the precious indication that the countdown of the survival time of the American-cum-Israel Tyranny has begun.

They died like the cowardly dogs they were in the desert, huddled in the stolen Mercedes and other civilian vehicles plundered from Kuwait, and Americans are the pirates? We were merciful and we did them all a favor, right? We sent them all to paradise to eat honeydew with Allah. Who wants to go next.... The goal of the war was to win and share silly stories about all of the histerical antics we witnessed as the pussy Iraqi's fled their positions. As we cleared bunkers in the desert, Iraqi's would come out smiling and saying "We love George Bush!" Even the Bedouins laughed at them. We lost fewer than 200 soldiers in the Gulf War. Next time we will lose fewer not because we are cowards, we proved that we are the toughest fighting men long ago, but because we have sense. That was quite a scathing letter that you put out the other day. Although I do agree with some of what you said, I do disagree with some of it also.
It is not the American soldier that you should be directing your tirades at, but the US government. Soldiers do not make wars, they only fight them. It is governments that create wars. The US soldier in most part is not a coward as you seem to think. Whether or not the reason for the war was correct or not, in most instances the US has won any war that it has been in. The only reason that it has ever lost is because of the same assholes that create wars not giving the fighting men what they needed to carry on a war the way that it should have been.
You criticise the way that the "US soldiers" bomb, or use artillery prior to an assault by foot soldiers. Please, allow me to be so bold as to point out that this has been a standard military practise since the days of bows and arrows, long before there even was a United States of America. Soften up the scumbags and then go in and clean up, simple logic!
Your disapproval of the actions that were taken by president "openfly" as you have so aptly named him are perfectly understandable, and I will be the first to admit that, but the attack on the US soldier I feel was uncalled for. Granted, they did launch the cruise missiles that wrought the destruction, but they were under orders to do so by a person that has no moral values at all. They did not have an option! Had they refused to obey orders, they would have been courtmartialed and sent to prison. The duty of a soldier is to obey.
You cannot justify putting the blame on the people at the bottom, when it is the people at the top that are the the ones to blame. A soldier does what his government asks him to do without questioning it, because that is his job. Unfortunately, governments are not always straight forward with the "little people", or, "expendables", because they have a master plan that does not in any way include them. They are only pawns in a game that they have absolutely no control over, and the only thing that they can do is to try and stay alive.
Criticize governments, politicians and policies as much as you want, but do not criticize the soldier. I'm not talking about only the US soldier. I'm talking about all soldiers. These men are driven by a patriotic sense of duty and loyalty to their native country, which puts them in exactly the same boat as us. I truly hope that you are not putting all of us down as well for having a sense of loyalty and patriotism toward the country of our birth. If this is your intention, then you are no more than an anarchist.

Exclusive: Washington trained death squads in secret while Britain has spent 1 million pounds helping Indonesian army

Indonesian military forces linked to the carnage in East Timor were trained in the United States under a covert programme sponsored by the Clinton Administration which continued until last year.
The Observer can also disclose that the Government has spent about £1 million in training more than 50 members of the Indonesian military in Britain since it came to power.
Human rights campaigners claim a number of these are likely to have links with those complicit in the atrocities.
The US programme, codenamed 'Iron Balance', was hidden from legislators and the public when Congress curbed the official schooling of Indonesia's army after a massacre in 1991. Principal among the units that continued to be trained was the Kopassus -- an elite force with a bloody history -- which was more rigorously trained by the US than any other Indonesian unit, according to Pentagon documents passed to The Observer last week.
Kopassus was built up with American expertise despite US awareness of its role in the genocide of about 200,000 people in the years after the invasion of East Timor in 1975, and in a string of massacres and disappearances since the bloodbath. Amnesty International describes Kopassus as 'responsible for some of the worst human rights violations in Indonesia's history'.
The Pentagon documents -- obtained by the US-based East Timor Action Network and Illinois congressman Lane Evans -- detail every exercise in the covert training programme, conducted under a Pentagon project called JCET (Joint Combined Education and Training). They show the training was in military expertise that could only be used internally against civilians, such as urban guerrilla warfare, surveillance, counter-intelligence, sniper marksmanship and 'psychological operations'.
Specific commanders trained under the US programme have been tied to the current violence and to some of the worst massacres of the past 20 years, including the slaughter at Kraras in 1983 and at Santa Cruz in 1991. The US- trained commanders include the son-in-law of the dictator General Suharto, Prabowo Subianto, and his mentor, General Kiki Syahnakri -- the man appointed last week by the so-called 'reform' government as commissioner for martial law in East Timor.
The secret programme unveiled in the document became the focus for military training when above-board aid was curtailed by Congress after the Santa Cruz massacre. Congress had stepped in after up to 270 peaceful protesters -- many of them schoolchildren -- were murdered by Kopassus shock troops as they paraded through Dili.
American sponsorship of the Indonesian regime began as a matter of Cold War ideology, in the wake of defeat in Vietnam. The left-wing movement in East Timor was feared by Jakarta and seen by the US as an echo of those in southern Africa and of Salvador Allende's government in Chile. Jakarta's harassment of the Timor government and the invasion of 1975 were duly encouraged by the United States.
The training of Indonesia's officer corps peaked during the mid-Eighties. In 1990 a former official at the US Embassy in Jakarta cabled the State Department to say US sponsorship had been 'a big help to the (Indonesian) army. They probably killed a lot of people and I probably have a lot of blood on my hands'.
But the horror of Santa Cruz in 1991, when trucks were seen dumping bodies in the sea, was too much. The US decided that the training, while still available, should be paid for by the recipient nation -- in other words, it would no longer be military aid. The covert programme then became the main means of training Indonesia's military -- still at the American taxpayers' expense.
In an undated prospectus, the Pentagon says the prime mission was to 'to develop, organise, equip, train, advise and direct indigenous militaries'. The scale was small, to offer concentrated 'significant special training' which would create 'self-sufficient small units'. In 1996, for instance, 10 exercises involved 376 US personnel and 838 Indonesians or 'loyal' Timorese.
Britain also made a significant contribution to Indonesia's military training. The Observer has established that, since May 1997, 24 senior members of Indonesia's forces have been trained in UK military colleges. This included training in running military units efficiently and how to used technical equipment like guided missiles. In addition, 29 Indonesian officers have studied at non-military establishments.
Revelations of the extent to which Labour has used taxpayers' money to aid the Indonesian military has angered many MPs, who claim it makes a mockery of Foreign Secretary Robin Cook's 'ethical foreign policy'. In the last four years of the Tory Government, only one Indonesian soldier was trained in the UK. [...]

Fighting the Media War

Since the beginning of the crisis we have noted a bias in the United States media. The Palestinians have made great strides in influencing public opinion in America, and it is very disturbing to us. We were surprised by this success and very unprepared for it. We did not think there would be a media war over the Palestinian uprising. We assumed that the U.S. media would be on our side. This was a terrible miscalculation by us, and we paid heavily for it. It took us a few days to hit back, but I think that we have done so successfully.
Prior to the Sharm el-Sheikh summit I put together a committee of ten to twenty Israelis to plot our media strategy in the United States. And I told them: we are losing the media battle, and it is our job to put each of you on television to call the Palestinians liars. We have to win the media war to win the larger war. We designated one week for planning, rebutting the Palestinian position, and giving assignments to people. These were the top people -- Itamar Rabinovich, Peres's top aides, former Rabin people, you name it -- and we gave out assignments. Our purpose was to turn around American public opinion. We were very fortunate, because we aimed at putting our strategy into effect at Sharm el-Sheikh. And we succeeded, but like I said we were lucky. There were no Palestinian media people at Sharm el-Sheikh, and so we had the American media to ourselves. We gave interview after interview and they [the Palestinians] were very understaffed. We should not underestimate our victory. In many ways, the media war will decide who is wrong and who is right in this struggle, and we must convince people that we are right.
We have some major problems with the American media. There are many media outlets that understand our position, but there are others that are completely against us. We are especially upset at CNN. They have two Palestinian reporters, and they are very anti-Israeli. And we are putting real pressure on the heads of CNN to have them replaced with more objective, pro-Israeli reporters who are willing to tell our side of the story. You know the importance of the media in molding public opinion, so we need your cooperation. We need our friends in the United States to counter the Palestinian allegations. We need to get our story out. [...]

Last September, the USS Kamehameha pulled into the port of Aqaba in southern Jordan, the first U.S. Navy submarine ever to visit the Hashemite Kingdom. The next day, the crew "manned the rails" in a solemn ceremony while King Abdullah Bin Al-Hussein and other dignitaries toured the submarine from end to end.
The Navy announced that the Kamehameha crew had participated "in several community relations projects, prepared ... for their next underway, and explored the sites in Jordan."
In fact, the visit was neither tourism nor pomp and circumstance. The purpose was to conduct a very secret military exercise called "Early Victor." Early Victor is just one of hundreds of exercises and operations conducted annually by the U.S. military around the globe. Some are well known, and most, when they are reported, are portrayed as mom and apple pie opportunities for training and good works.
But more often than not these days, there is a secret side to these exercises where little more than some felicitous code name is revealed. These exercises are not only the most common and most vivid engagement in American foreign policy. In some ways, they are American foreign policy.
The Secrecy Factory
What do Blue Advance, Promise Kept, Nectar Bend, and Eager Initiative all have in common? No, they are not the porno Web sites. They are classified military exercises for which the who and the where and the why can't be made public. An unclassified fiscal year 2001 Pentagon budget document leaked to me lists hundreds of such exercises conducted with militaries and police forces and intelligence agencies overseas.
Coming months will see scores more of such operations including Clean Hunter, Earnest Leader, Inferno Creek, Inherent Fury, Inspired Gambit, Lucky Sentinel, and Ultimate Resolve. The focus of these exercises, according to Pentagon sources, is increasingly counter-terrorism, and counter-narcotics, and counter-proliferation, and counter-propaganda.
The number of secret exercises seems to have only grown since the end of the Cold War. Such operations, by their very existence, suggest covert commitments to foreign countries undertaken for the benefit of access to military bases or exchanges of information or "training" opportunities.
Early Victors, Late Losers
The Kamehameha is no stranger to secret missions. The nuclear-powered submarine was commissioned in December 1965 to launch Polaris ballistic missiles. For almost 30 years, it stealthily plied the waters of the Atlantic, remaining underwater for as much as 60 days at a time, always ready to fire its nuclear weapons in a moment's notice at the Soviet Union.
In July 1992, the aging boat was modified for the post-Cold War era. Its missiles were removed and the spaces converted to accommodate Navy SEALs and divers, with special shelters and underwater vehicles able to insert American commandos on an enemy shore.
After the Jordanian dignitaries had departed and the bunting was stowed away on the Kamehameha, the Navy SEALs emerged from their special compartments and joined Jordanian commandos in joint exercises in the Red Sea. The exercise undoubtedly honed their skills, but at what cost?
This operation, and countless others like it, are overseen by the Special Operations Command, based in Florida. SOCOM as it is called, controls the Navy SEALs and Green Berets and Delta Force elite. SOCOM has a mind-boggling list of classified exercises and operations with enigmatic names like Skilled Anvil, Desert Sprint, Elegant Lady, Able Sentry, Guardian Retrieval and Autumn Shelter.
The public has no way of knowing what these operations entail or with whom the U.S. military is collaborating. One wonders how many of these exercises are cementing covert ties to governments and elites who may prove to be on the wrong side of democratic forces and change in the future.
In recent years, human rights activists have their ire on the Pentagon's School of the Americas for training a generation of secret policemen and dictators in Latin America. But SOCOM's activities constitute a series of extension campuses where U.S. officers can tutor their foreign counterparts in utmost secrecy.
The secrecy exists because SOCOM and the Pentagon's other so-called unified commands set their own priorities for building working relationships in their area of responsibility. Since the monarchies and dictatorships of the Middle East (and elsewhere) are not interested in sharing many details of their covert U.S. relations with their peoples, the unified commands have large catalogs of secret relationships to manage.
With a unified command for every corner of the globe, it is doubtful that many people, even inside the Pentagon or White House, have a complete grasp of the overall implications of these ties for U.S. foreign policy.
Another Foreign Policy
Is all the secrecy necessary because our security is at stake as it was in the Cold War? Is it required to thwart countermeasures on the part of potential adversaries? Or is it merely avoidance of public involvement and political oversight?
Whether the ostensible benefit of secret military exercises really enhances anyone's security, or human rights, or democratic values, seems hardly considered. The web of relationships, regardless of the real return on investment, has become its own justification for both the activity and the secrecy. Thus the Pentagon's mountain of secrets is also a slippery slope leading to an unaccountable foreign policy.

Red Mafiya: How The Russian Mob Has Invaded America

Of all the nations where the Russian mob has established a presence, none has been more deeply compromised than the State of Israel, America's staunchest ally in the volatile Middle East. More than 800,000 Russian Jews have made aliyah or settled in Israel since the first massive wave of immigration in the 1970s. The Russians took advantage of Israel's most sacred law--the Right of Return, which guarantees Jews the right to return to their ancestral home land, where they would receive citizenship and live as free men and women outside the odious yoke of anti-Semitism. "The Russians are a blessing," said Israel's top political columnist Nachum Barnea, who stands in public awe of their brilliant intellectual gifts in a variety of fields.
But just as in Brighton Beach, Russian immigration to Israel has brought a more unwelcome element--the vor v zakone [Note de l'AAARGH: ce terme, qui signifie littéralement "voleur soumis à la loi" [des voleurs] est une invention de la littérature populaire où il désigne un bandit reconnu comme une "autorité" dans son milieu; voir les travaux d'Andrej Konstantinov, journaliste qui sait à peu près tout ce qu'on peut savoir sur le banditisme à Pétersbourg] and their criminal minions. Ten percent of Israel's five million Jews are now Russian, and 10 percent of the Russian population "is criminal," according to NYPD notes of a briefing in Manhattan by Israeli police intelligence official Brigadier General Dan Ohad.
"There is not a major Russian organized crime figure who we are tracking who does not also carry an Israeli passport," says senior State Department official Jonathan Winer. He put the number at seventy-five, among whom are Mogilevich, Loutchansky, Rabinovich, and Kobzon.
Many of the mobsters who have Israeli citizenship, such as Eduard Ivankov and Sergei Mikhailov, are not even Jewish. In the mid-1990s, an Israeli police sting -- code-named Operation Romance -- netted, among others, a high-ranking Interior Ministry official who was taking payoffs from Mikhailov and convicted KGB spy Shabtai Kalmanovitch to issue passports to dozens of Russian gangsters, according to Brigadier General Hezi Leder, the Israeli police attache in Washington, and classified FBI documents. (Kalmanovitch, after serving time in an Israeli prison for treason, became one of Moscow's most notorious mobsters and frequently returns to Israel.)
Russia's criminal aristocracy covets Israeli citizenship "because they know Israel is a safe haven for them," said Leder. "We do not extradite citizens."
"The Russians then use the safe haven to travel around the world and rape and pillage," added Moody.
The country has also remained attractive to gangsters because "Israel is good for money laundering," explained Leder. Under Israeli law, banks can accept large cash deposits with no questions asked. In one instance, a corrupt ex-deputy prime minister of Ukraine smuggled $300 million of illicit cash into Israel in several suitcases, and deposited it into a bank, as Israeli Minister of National Security Moshe Shahal told a gathering of intelligence heads in June 1996. "I've watched Russian mobsters exchange suitcases full of cash out in the open at the Dan Hotel's swimming pool," laughed an American underworld crime figure. "Israel is a country that encourages people to come and invest money," said Leder. "There is no mechanism to check the origin of the money."
Israeli police officials estimate that Russian mobsters have poured more than $4 billion of dirty money into Israel's economy, though some estimates range as high as $20 billion. They have purchased factories, insurance companies, and a bank. They tried to buy the now defunct, pro-labor Party Davar daily newspaper, and the pro-Likud Maariv, the nation's second largest newspaper. They have even put together a koopa, or a pool of money, for bribes and other forms of mutual support. One of Leder's greatest fears is that the Russians will compromise Israel's security by buying companies that work for the military-industrial complex. The mobsters, in fact, attempted to purchase a gas and oil company that maintains strategic reserves for Israel's military. "They could go to the stock market and buy a company that's running communications in the military sector," he complains.
Insinuating themselves throughout the country, Russian dens have bought large parcels of impoverished development towns, taking over everything from local charities to the town hall. For instance, Gregory Lerner, a major Russian crime boss who arrived in Israel with huge amounts of money, allegedly owns everything from fashionable restaurants to parts of several port city waterfronts.
"Do you know what Gregory Lerner did in Ashkelon!" Leder asked me during an interview in New York. "His mother was three times in the hospital there. He bought new medical equipment and dedicated it to his mother! It's the way the mobsters wash their name." They do so, he explains, in order to build up grassroots support and openly influence politicians -- or even run for elective office. Leder worries that one day three or four Russian gangsters who have bought their legitimacy will win Knesset seats, take over a key committee, and be in an ideal position to stop an important piece of anti-crime legislation, such as a proposed bill to criminalize money laundering.
One of Leder's worst fears came true when Russian gangsters handpicked several candidates to run for local and national offices, according to the minutes of a classified Israeli cabinet meeting held by the Committee of the Controller in June 1996. And in May 1997, Israeli police launched a probe into allegations that Lerner attempted to bribe former Prime Minister Shimon Peres, among other Knesset members and cabinet ministers. The investigation was inconclusive, however, and no charges were filed.* (*Succumbing to persistent pressure from the Russian government, the Israeli police finally arrested Lerner in May 1997 as he was about to board a flight to the United States. He was charged with attempted bribery, defrauding four Russian banks of $106 million, and attempting to set up a bank in Israel to launder money for the Russian Mafiya. Lerner pleaded guilty to bank fraud and bribing government officials on March 22, 1998, after having fiercely maintained for months that he was a victim of an Israeli government plot to discredit Russian emigre entrepreneurs.)
One politician already ensnared in the web of organized crime is Russian-born Natan Sharansky, the head of the Russian Yisrael Ba-Aliya and minister of the interior in the government of Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Because of his resistance to the Soviet regime and his strong and open identification with Judaism, he suffered a long, brutal confinement in the Gulag before international pressure led to his release. In Israel, the charismatic dissident was lionized by the Jewish people, and he became a power broker for the large and growing Russian emigre community, whom he helped integrate into a rigid society that sometimes seemed jealous of the talented new Russians.
However, Sharansky has publicly admitted that his party has accepted campaign contributions from NORDEX president Grigori Loutchansky. Officials from the U.S. Congress, the State Department, and the CIA pleaded with Sharansky to sever his ties to Loutchansky. "We told Sharansky to stop taking money from Loutchansky," says Winer. "We told him about [Loutchansky's] MO: bribery, influence peddling, that he was a bridge between foreign governments and traditional organized crime."
Sharansky simply refused, arguing that he needed the money to resettle the tidal wave of Russian emigres. "When we warned Sharansky," says the congressional investigator, "to stop taking money from Loutchansky, he said, 'But where am I going to put them,"' referring to the huge influx of Russian Jewish refugees. "'How am I going to feed them! Find them jobs!"' He figures Loutchansky is just another source of income.
"Sharansky is very shrewd," the congressional investigator continued. "He knows better. It was a cynical [decision]. He did take money. Then he asked, 'Why shouldn't I!' The CIA warned him that Loutchansky was trying to buy influence through him and his party for [the] Russian Organized Crime/Russian government combine. We told Sharansky that Loutchansky is a major crook." (Sharansky declined to comment.)
Ignoring all the warnings, Sharansky introduced Loutchansky to Benjamin Netanyahu prior to Israel's 1996 national elections. The Israeli press reported that Netanyahu received $1.5 million, in campaign contributions from Loutchansky, a charge the prime minister hotly denied. "The Likud is corrupt, and Bibi [Netanyahu] is disgusting," says Winer. "He's had meetings with Loutchansky and Kobzon -- criminals promoting their own interests."
Kobzon's influence in Israel may exceed that of even Loutchansky and Mogilevich. "Kobzon has big [political] connections in Israel," says Leder. For instance, in January 1996, Kobzon was detained upon his arrival at Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport "because of his ties to the Russian Mafiya, " Labor Party Knesset member Moshe Shahal said in his cramped Knesset office in Jerusalem. Shahal, at the time the country's security minister, intended to send the mobster back to Russia, but then the phones started ringing in the chambers of high government ministries. Kobzon's friends in Israel petitioned the minister of the interior, the minister of transportation, and Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, who finally ordered the airport police to free Kobzon and let him enter the country. Peres, who was being pressed by the Russian ambassador, told Shahal that he relented to avoid a messy incident with the Russian government. (The following year, Kobzon flew to Israel in his private jet to pick up Marat Balagula's eldest daughter, who lives in Netanya, to bring her back to Moscow to celebrate his sixtieth birthday.)
With two decades of unimpeded growth, the Russian Mafiya has succeeded in turning Israel into its very own "mini-state," in which it operates with virtual impunity. Although many in international law enforcement believe that Israel is by now so compromised that its future as a nation is imperiled, its government, inexplicably, has done almost nothing to combat the problem. In June 1996 Leder, then chief of Israeli police intelligence, prepared a three-page classified intelligence assessment that concluded: "Russian organized groups [had] become a strategic threat" to Israel's existence. He documented how they were infiltrating the nation's business, financial, and political communities. Shahal used the report to brief Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, Shin Bet, Israel's FBI, and Mossad, and provided his own recommendations on how to uproot the Russian mob. Before Rabin had a chance to act on the Plan he was assassinated by a right-wing Jewish religious zealot in Tel Aviv following a peace rally. Shimon Peres subsequently set up an intra-agency intelligence committee on the Russian mob after reading Leder's report, but did little else. Leder's report was shelved by Netanyahu, according to Shahal.
"Israel is going to have to do something," says James Moody. "They could lose their whole country. The mob is a bigger threat than the Arabs."
Leder agrees: "We know how to deal with terrorist organizations. We know how to deal with external threats. This is a social threat. We as a society don't know how to handle it. It's an enemy among us."

Il paradosso per la nostra epoca è che il pensiero anarchico è più diffuso di quanto non si pensi generalmente, e che, per quanto poco Io si noti, esso ha invaso la letteratura mondiale al punto che sono pochi i libri di fama, pubblicati dopo il 1945, i quali non ne portino l'impronta; mentre il movimento anarchico, come tale, ha molto poca presa sugli avvenimenti. A mio avviso non bisogna vedere la ragione di cià nel fatto che il pensiero anarchico, tra tutti quelli che si contendono i favori del pubblico, è il più solidamente legato ad un umanesimo della più pura -- e della più antica -- tradizione, ma perchè gli anarchici militanti sono più portati allo studio dei problemi astratti che scaturiscono dalla morale, anzichè a quelIo dei problemi concreti che pone l'organizzazione della società umana. Di fronte alla ragione non vi sono principî più solidi di quelli anarchici, ma in un mondo, in cui tutte le società sentono confusamente il loro avvenire singolarmente compromesso dall'avventura nucleare ed in cui, in ognuna di queste società, ogni individuo ha, tutti i giorni, il tempo giusto di far fronte alle necessità della vita pratica, è l'inquietudine che domina, la ragone si turba e, col fare appello a dei principi, è evidente che non si possa trarre nessun profitto. Da una quindicina d'anni, ho dunque deciso di rivolgermi al pubblico per esporre i problemi stessi nel loro aspetto il più concreto, à mano a mano che l'attualità li propone alla nostra meditazione.
Ora l'attualità che ieri ci proponeva di tirare delle conclusioni dall'affare di Cuba (vedere nel numero 4 di Volontà: Il rapporto delle forze o la fine della paura), ci propone oggi di nicercare le cause e calcolare le conseguenze possibili degli avvenimenti di Siria e dell'Irak, dei quali, si risentono già le ripercussioni in Giordania, nell'Arabia Saudita e in tutto il Medio Oriente.
La causa prima è un affare di petrolio.
Le conseguenze possibili? -- Una terza gerra mondiale.
Ho detto soltanto «possibile».
Il petrolio nel mondo moderno
Alla fine del secolo scorso, l'invenzione del motore a scoppio, reso possibile da quella dell'elettricità, fu rapidamente notata dagli industriali del mondo intero in quanto era di rendimento maggiore delle vecchie macchine a vapore alimentate con carbone. A parità di spesa producevano più calore, cioè più energia, necessitava di un numero minore di personale, il lavoro era più leggero, la produzione più importante... Da allora in poi, il petrolio era destinato a prendere il posto del carbone come sorgente d'energia. Con la sostituzione del motore a scoppio alla macchina a vapore si verificà, in tutte le nazioni del mondo, la corsa ai pezzi di costo più bassi. In questa corsa, le nazioni più avvantaggiate furono evidentemente quelle dove il petrolio si trovava in quantità sufficienti: gli Stati Uniti per esempio. Le altre, condannate a produrre col carbone, si trovarono di colpo in situazione d'inferiorità sul piano della concorrenza e dei prezzi nei mercati mondiali.
Questo processo di modernizzazione dell'impianto industriale si mise tuttavia in marcia assai lentamente. Nel 1907 -- dicono le statistiche -- nel mondo intero si producevano appena 20 milioni di tonnellate di petrolio, che rappresentavano il 7% dell'energia utilizzata nell'insieme dalle officine, il resto essendo rappresentato dall'elettricità e dal gas naturale (dal 3 al 4%) e dal carbone (dall'89 al 90%).
Per dare un'idea dei progressi realizzati dopo il 1907, basti sapere che, nel 1961, il mondo ha prodotto circa un miliardo e cento quaranta milioni di tonnellate di petrolio (50 volte di più), che rappresentano il 49% dell'energia totale utilizzata nel mondo, il resto essendo rappresentato per il 12% dall'elettricità e dal gas naturale e per il 39% dal carbone. Evidentemente trattasi di cifre medie, il che significa che non in tutte le nazioni del mondo l'energia utilizzata corrisponde alla percentuale rispettiva per le dette tre sorgenti principali. In America, per esempio, le industrie lavorano all'82% col carbone, l'elettricità e il gas naturali; in Francia, lavorano al 40% col petrolio, al 50% col carbone, ed al 10% con l'elettricità e col gas naturale.
Per queste ragioni, per i prezzi di costo, tanto del loro consumo interno quanto sul piano della concorrenza sui mercati esterni, gli Stati Uniti si trovano in una situazione migliore dei Russi. Fra i due: la Francia, l'Inghilterra, l'Italia, la Germania.
Si comprenderà dunque facilmente come le nazioni meno favorite cerchino, con tutti i mezzi, di procurarsi del petrolio, mentre le più favorite, pure con tutti i mezzi, cerchino di conservare quello xhe hanno a loro disposizione, giacchè, nelle strutture attuali del mondo, il problema del profitto è sovrano.
II-- La geografia del Petrolio
Le fonti del petrolio, nel mondo, sono limitate di numero e possono essere suddivise in due modi: per paesi e con riguardo alla finanza.
Per paese: il miliardo e 140.000.000 di tonnellate di petrolio prodotto nel mondo si ripartisce, grosso modo, in quattro grandi masse: Gli Stati Uniti d'America con 380 milioni di tonnellate; il Medio Oriente con 280 milioni; il Mondo « comunista » con 270 milioni; i diversi altri paesi con 210 milioni.
Finanziariamente parlando: non vi sono che due specie di petrolio; quelIo che è sotto il controllo russo e l'altro: -- 270 milioni di tonnellate da una parte, 870 dall'altra. Tutto il petrolio, che non scaturisce dal sottosuoIo sovietico, appartiene, infatti, a compagnie finanziarie esclusivamente americane, inglesi e francesi.
Facciamo, allora, un calcolo: se i russi riuscissero ad impadronirsi dei 280 milioni di tonnellate del Medio Oriente, potrebbero disporre di 550 milioni di tonnellate e il blocco atlantico di 590 milioni. Fra i due, sotto il rapporto dell'energia disponibile, la distribuzione sarebbe pressochè uguale. Niente è più verosimile di questa ipotesi giacchè, geograficamente, il Medio Oriente è a portata di mano dei russi e, politicamente, le loro posizioni erano, ancora poco tempo addietro, più solide con Nasser in Egitto -- l'uomo forte del mondo arabo --, con Kassem nell'Irak, col partito progressista in Siria, col partito Tudeh nell'Iran e Sallal nello Yemen. Alla luce dei recenti avvenimenti dell'Irak e della Siria -- che sono stati decisi a Munich fra agenti segreti anglo-americani e uomini politici minoritari del Medio Oriente, rifugiati in quella città come dei volgari agenti della O.A.S. --, la situazione si è rovesciata a profitto degli anglo-americani, perchè questi avvenimenti non sono altro che una reazione anti-russa, anche se i russi non hanno detto l'ultima parola e bisogna contare su una reazione anti-atlantica, possibile se non probabile.
III -- Il calcolo sovietico
Ho detto che l'industria russa funziona soprattutto col carbone, un po' con l'elettricità, un po' col petrolio. Non riesce ad utilizzare nemmeno i 270 milioni di tonnellate di petrolio a sua disposizione, delle quali 100 milioni circa ogni anno sono esportati principalmente in Italia. Prima che la Russia possa utilizzare la produzione del Medio Oriente dovrà fornirsi preventivamente di motori a scoppio ed occorrerà molto tempo anche perche la Russia dirigerà i maggiori sforzi per attrezzarsi in armi nucleari. La Russia non ha dunque bisogno di questo petrolio. Ma, se mettesse la mano sui 280 milioni di tonnellate del Medio Oriente, avrebbe 280 milioni di più di tonnellate da esportare, con le quali provocherebbe una caduta rovinosa dei corsi mondiali e, senza alcun dubbio, delle strutture economiche del mondo occidentale.
Ecco infatti come si presenterebbe la situazione nel mondo occidentale:
1) -- Gli Stati Uniti, che producono 380 milioni di tonnellate di petrolio all'anno, ne consumano 500 milioni. Ciò significa che 120 milioni sono importati precisamente dal Medio Oriente, dove è istallata una delle più potenti compagnie petrolifere statunitensi: la celebre « Aramco ».
2) -- Quanto all'Inghilterra, la stabilità della lira sterlina, riposa per l'80% sui petrolio del Golfo Persico.
Partendo da queste considerazioni, se la Russia riuscisse ad eliminare dal Medio Oriente l'Inghilerra e gli Stati Uniti, ne risulterebbe una caduta finanziaria disastrosa prima, economica poi, che si trasformerebbe in una rapida distruzione di tutto il sistema capitalista occidentale. Appoggiandosi sulle tesi dell'economista sovietico Varga, che si fonda su questa speranza, e con Io scopo di provocare questa caduta con un mezzo diverso dalla lotta dei due blocchi in una guerra generalizzata, Kruscev ha lanciato la sua celebre campagna della coesistenza pacifica, che consiste nel conquistare il Medio Oriente con metodi politici, sostenendo il nazionalismo arabo -- una specie di «Dispotismo illuminato» europeo del XVIII secolo -- che è più conforme all'aspirazione dei popoli di questa regione, perchè lotta contro le vecchie strutture feudali sostenute dagli angloamericani, come negli avvenimenti dell'Irak e della Siria -- e tende a sostituirle con delle strutture certamente ancora arcaiche, ma indiscutibilmente più democratiche.
Ma una coesistenza pacifica cosi concepita, non è che un gioco di parole, perche è evidente che il blocco capitalistico occidentale non si lascerà prendere così facilmente il petrolio del Medio Oriente e la guerra si farebbe lo stesso: le basi dei missili installate dagli americani in Turchia e nell'Iran, come pure i sottomarini equipaggiati di Polaris nel Mediterraneo provano cià sufficientemente.
Fino ad oggi gli americani si sono accontentati di replicare sul piano politico e, in Irak come in Siria ed anche nello Yemen, sono riusciti a prevenire un complotto russo ch'era sul punto di scoppiare in pieno giorno, così come, con lo stesso procedimento, sono sul punto di riuscire in Giordania e nell'Arabia. Ma il giorno in cui si trovassero in uno stato d'inferiorità rispetto ai russi, non esiterebbero, certamente, ad impiegare i grossi mezzi. E non è escluso che questo giorno possa arrivare.
IV -- La guerra fredda del petrolio
Contrariamente a quanto si potrebbe pensare, la guerra fredda del petrolio non è cominciata fra gli Anglo-americani ed i russi, ma tra gli inglesi e gli americani ed è una storia molto lunga. Prima della guerra del 1914, il Medio Oriente faceva parte dell'Impero Ottomano con capitale Costantinopoli. Non v'erano nel mondo che due compagnie petrolifere: la Shell Royal Dutch, la cui zona d'influenza era l'Europa, ma che estendeva i suoi tentacoli verso il Medio Oriente a partire dallo Egitto (e sfruttava pure il petrolio della Romania, del Caucaso, delle Indie Olandesi, della Colombia, e del Venezuela, ecc ... ) e la Standard Oil, la cui zona d'influenza si limitava all'America del Nord. La prima era inglese e prosperava sotto l'autorità di Deterding con l'appoggio dei banchieri della City; la seconda era americana e Rockfeller ne era il grande personaggio, appoggiato dalla Chase Bank...
Il trattato di Versailles (1919) concesse una parte del Medio Oriente alla Francia, un'altra all'Inghilterra; l'Inghilterra però fece la parte del leone appropriandosi di quasi tutto il petrolio. Due compagnie furono create per sfruttarlo: la Anglo-Iranian Cy. e la Irak-Petroleum (filiali della Shell Royal), delle quali la Francia ottenne soltanto il 23,5% della produzione petrolifera. Si generà così la lotta fra Deterding e Rockfeller, la City e la Chase Bank... Tra le due guerre, questa lotta fu messa bene in luce dal famoso Lawrence d'Arabia che persegui il disegno all'unità del mondo arabo col Medio Oriente e perchè il petrolio restasse inglese, contro gli agenti americani e contro il movimento sionista internazionale (che, per farlo passare sotto controllo degli americani, i quali permettevano loro la creazione dello stato d'Israele: cià supponeva che gli inglesi ne sarebbero scacciati) i quali cercavano di dividere per dominarli (divide et impera! non s'è ancora trovato metodo migliore).
Vi sono, oggi, nel mondo atlantico, quasi un centinaio di compagnie petrolifere. Ma solo sette, fra queste, si dividono i nove decimi degli 870 milioni di tonnellate che si producono e il decimo restante è ripartito fra una infinità di piccoli mestieranti. Queste sette compagnie sono tutte nate sia dalla Shell Royal, sia dalla Standard Oil, sia da compromessi fra le due: -- quattro compagnie americane: la Standard Oil of New Jersey, la casa principale, la Standard Oil of California, la Texas Oil e la Socony Mobil Oil, la consociazione delle quali con una quinta, poggiata specialmente sul Medio Oriente, ha prodotto la Aramco; -- due compagnie inglesi: la Shell Royal Dutch, casa principale, e la Gulf Oil Cy. (nel Golfo del Messico, soltanto perchè l'Inghilterra è stata scacciata dall'Arabia Saudita dalla Aramco); -- una compagnia franco-anglo-americana: la Britisch Petroleum, nella quale la Francia ha una partecipazione del 23,5%, gli Stati Uniti una partecipazione uguale e l'Inghilterra il resto. Questa compagnia, che sfrutta solamente il petrolio dell'Irak e una parte del petrolio dell'Iran. ha preso la successione della Anglo-Iranian Cy, eliminata in seguito all'affare Mossadeq.
Queste sette compagnie si ripartiscono il petrolio del Medio Oriente nelle seguenti proporzioni: 10% alla Francia, 53% all'America e 35% all'Inghilterra. Come si vede, la situazione dell'Inghilterra, dopo il trattato di Versailles si è considerevolmente «deteriorata» in quella regione. Si è pure considerevolmente «deteriorata» in Europa (dove i petroli del Caucaso sono passati, nel 1917, sotto controllo russo ragione per la quale Deterding ha sostenuto Hitler -- nella speranza di ricuperarli; e pure sotto controllo russo sono passati, nel 1945, i petroli rumeni), nell'America Centrale e latina (dove i petroli della Colombia, del Venezuela, del Messico, ecc... sono progressivamente passati sotto controllo americano).
Ma la situazione più grave per la pace del mondo è nel Medio Oriente, dove gli agenti russi venuti ad opporsi agli agenti inglesi, americani ed israeliti, si mordono e si graffiano, come cani e gatti, creando pericoli in permanenza, e facendone una specie di polveriera che può saltare ad ogni istante. Nell'America Centrale e latina, l'incontro degli agenti inglesi, che non hanno disarmato, con gli agenti americani, crea la stessa torbida situazione che, favorendo il dissenso che li oppone per ragione di petrolio gli uni agli altri, può permettere un giorno agli agenti russi, sempre attivi, di piantarvi le loro tende.
E' evidente che la nuova situazione strategica, che risulterebbe per ognuno dei due blocchi, costituirebbe allora un terribile pericolo.
V -- Un esempio di guerra calda
Quando nel 1952 si scopri il petrolio nel Sahara, i geografi o i geologi non furono punto sorpresi. Da circa 50 anni sapevano e dicevano che il sottosuoIo petrolifero fa il giro della terra come una cintura che segue pressappoco il 32 o parallelo: Medio Oriente, Sahara, Mauritania, Texas, ecc... discendendo verso il sud sul continente americano. I dirigenti delle grandi compagnie angloamericane furono atterriti. Per impedire che il prezzo del petrolio diminuisse, la loro principale preoccupazione fu quella di ostacolare ad ogni costo l'apertura dei nuovi pozzi che non fossero sotto il loro controllo. Fare la lista dei pozzi che, far le due guerre mondiali, sono stati murati o incendiati nell'Africa del Nord, nel Marocco, in Tunisia e in Algeria, o rendere pubbliche le ragioni diplomatiche per le quali la Francianon ha potuto sfruttare che, all'indomani della seconda guerra mondiale, le sue disponibilità di gas naturale del Mezzogiorno, non mancherebbe di produrre un effetto spettacolare. Gli Anglo-americani, pertante, tentarono prima di tutto di rendere impossibili le ricerche nel Sahara, fomentando dei torbidi in Algeria; poi, vedendo che non riuscivano nell'intente, decisero di comperare dei «Perimetri di Ricerche» investendo capitali nelle compagnie francesi incaricate di questi sondaggi.
Ma le banche francesi d'affari, Rothschild, Lazard, Worms, Banque de Paris et des Pays Bas, Union Parisienne, furono le prime ad arrivare sui luoghi e non erano disposte a lasciarsi sorprendere. In Algeria, il fronte di Liberazione Nazionale (F.L.N.) pensà che, se c'era del petrolio nel Sahara, l'Algeria era un paese ricco. Con l'aiuto delle compagnie americane e inglesi, che pensavano, se trionfava, il F.L.N., di poter comperare più facilmente i famosi «Perimetri di Ricerche», prese una improvvisa, grande espansione. Nel 1956, le banche d'affari francesi sopracitate avevano creato una trentina di società per lo sfruttamento del petrolio sahariario unite nella Compagnia francese di ricerche sahariane; ma, per... disgrazia, le elezioni legislative, che avevano avuto luogo in Francia nel gennaio, provavano che l'opinione pubblica era largamente favorevole alla indipendenza delI'Algeria. Vedendosi sfuggire il petrolio del Sahara, esse organizzarono, per scongiurare il pericolo, quel 13 maggio 1958, che portà al potere De Gaulle, ritenendo così che soltanto questi era capace di conservare l'Algeria alla Francia.
I cinque ministri più importanti del governo De Gaulle, furono in fatti: Pompidou (direttore generale degli affari Rothschild), Berthoin (marito di una ereditiera della Banque de Paris et des Pays Bas), Jacquinot (marite della ereditiera della Banque Lazard), Couve de Murville (marito d'una ereditiera della Banca d'Union Parisienne) e Guillaumat (segretario generale della compagnia francese dei petroli associata alla Banca Worms). Il primo ministre stesso, il signer Michel Debré era molto vicino alla Banca Rothschild tramite la seconda sposa di sue padre. Le banche, alle quali erano alleati, fornirono a questi uomini i mezzi necessari per la sovvenzione della campagna verso la pubblica opinione attraverso stampa e manifesti, campagna che condusse agli avvenimenti del 13 maggio 1958.
Ma se De Gaulle era forte, non lo era tuttavia quanto le compagnie petrolifere anglo-americane che sostenevano, sottomano, la FL.N. e fu perciò costretto ad... inchinarsi. La transazione si fece finalmente ad Evian con una convenzione che accordava la metà del petrolio sahariano alla Francia -- o meglio, alle banche d'affari sopracitate -- l'altra metà all'Algeria indipendente: fu la fine della guerra d'Algeria che durava da sette anni e più. Il governo algerino ha promesse di non nazionalizzare il petrolio del Sahara oltre la porzione che gli spetta. Si può ritenere che l'Algeria indipendente avrà bisogno di mezzi finanziari e che sarà forse portata, non solo a non nazionalizzare la sua parle, ma a darlà in concessione alla Standard Oil of New Jersey, cioè agli americani; e poichè questa compagnia ha già delle partecipazioni importanti nella porzione di spettanza francese, la maggioranza dell'insieme le servirà come primo passe verso una presa di possesso della totalità. E poichè questa ipotesi in tutti i casi, non è da escludersi, i francesi si sarebbero battuti durante i sette anni... per un fico secco. Per di più noi possiamo dire oggi che è un... vero miracolo se il conflitto franco-algerino non si è internazionalizzato: si sarebbe giunti, forse, ad una terza guerra mondiale.
Conclusione
Il petrolio che definisce l'attuale congiuntura mondiale e l'orienta nel senso della guerra o della pace è nello stesso tempo, in tutte le nazioni del mondo, la condizione della prosperità o della povertà dell'industria; almeno nel blocco atlantico, permette alle grandi compagnie petrolifere di esercitare una grandissima influenza sulla politica generale di tutti i governi ai quali esse possono imporre il loro modo di vedere: dunque, uno Stato nello Stato e più forte che lo Stato stesso. L'ascesa al potere di De Gaulle, come pure la guerra d'Algeria, ne è un chiaro esempio.
Le elezioni americane del 1956 non sono meno esemplificative, benchè (per quanto sappia) sia il solo caso in cui si sia registrato uno scacco. Alla vigilia di quelle elezioni, puntando su Nasser per federare il Medio Oriente, i petroliferi avevano spinto il presidente Eisenhower a promettere il finanziamento della diga di Assuan. Poichè la diga di Assuan avrebbe permesso all'Egitto di raddoppiare e forse triplicare la sua produzione cotoniera, a mezzo della canalizzazione delle acque del Nilo, i magnati del Sud, padroni della produzione cotoniera degli U.S.A., insorsero al pensiero che l'Egitto potesse diventare un concorrente implacabile e minacciarono di prendere pubblicamente posizione contro di lui se non rinunciava al progetto. Eisenhower si inchinò e Nasser per finanziare lo sbarramento di Assuan nazionalizzò il canale di Suez. Da quel giorno le compagnie petrolifere hanno fatto pagare largamente a Kennedy questo insuccesso puramente locale. Il petrolio del Medio Oriente, sotto la loro ingiunzione, è diventato di nuovo il leit-motiv della politica degli Stati Uniti nel Medio Oriente e tutte le discussioni internazionali si aggirano, benchè fra le quinte, intorno al suo petrolio; dalla parte della cortina di ferro, un dispositivo strategico è messo a punto per conquistarlo; da questa parte un dispositivo consimile è messo a punto per conservarlo.
Nel Congo, per esempio, gli Stati Uniti, sono riusciti a mettere mano sul cobalto e sull'uranium, indispensabili alla fabbricazione d'armi nucleari: cià che assicura una certa superiorità sul blocco sovietico in questo settore. Operando in tal modo, hanno preso «due piccioni con una fava»; il possesso del cobalto e dell'uranium sarà comunque, per essi, un grande vantaggio sull'Unione Sovietica, il giorno in cui -- come bisogna attendersi -- l'energia nucleare prenderà il posto del petrolio, nello siesso modo che il petrolio ha preso oggi il posto del carbone: poichè si porranno gli stessi problemi, se... le srutture del mondo saranno sempre cosi poco conformi alle aspirazioni dei popoli.

Nous proposons ici un texte de réflexion élaboré par un groupe de penseurs allemands, venus au nationalisme par désespérance de la démocratie pourrie qui sert de masque à la domination américaine. Recht und Pflicht zu Krieg und Frieden
1. Nachdem die Westmächte den Ersten Weltkrieg erzwungen und gewonnen hatten und Deutschland den Waffenstillstand unterzeichnen mußte, organisierten die Westmächte das Waffenstillstandsverbrechen der Hunger-blockade, die 800.000 Hungertote in Deutschland zur Folge hatte, um dem Deutschen Reich die Unterschrift unter das Versailler Diktat von 1919 abzupressen.
2. Die Sieger verstümmelten die politische Landschaft des europäischen Kontinents nach ihren imperialistischen Plänen. Die Territorien der besiegten Mächte wurden aufgeteilt, man beraubte sie ihrer Souveränität und sie verloren ihre politische Handlungsfähigkeit nach innen wie nach außen.
3. Um diese Unterjochung zu begründen, zwangen die Westmächte das besiegte Deutschland zur Unterzeichnung eines Artikels, der dem Besiegten die "Kriegsschuld" auferlegte, also eine Schuld, die es im europäischen Kriegs- und Völkerrecht garnicht gibt.
4. Das von den Westmächten dem Deutschen Reich aufgezwungene System der Weimarer Republik war bestimmungsgemäß unfähig, das Versailler Diktat abzuschütteln. Dies versprach Hitler und erfüllte es auch. Die Machtergreifung Hitlers war also von den Westmächten provoziert. Nähe zu Zielen und Methoden der Westmächte ist vom deutschen Standpunkt aus der einzige gegen Hitler zu erhebende Vorwurf.
5. Am 1. September 1939 verschaffte sich das Deutsche Reich militärisch Zugang zu seinen vom Versailler Diktat abgeschnittenen Ostgebieten und übte Vergeltung an Polen für dessen Bruch des völkerrechtlichen Annexions-verbotes.
6. England und Frankreich mißbrauchten mit Unterstützung der USA diesen Lokalkonflikt, um Deutschland am 3. September 1939 den Krieg zu erklären und damit den Zweiten Weltkrieg als antideutschen Vernichtungskreuzzug vom Zaune zu brechen.
7. Daß keine Kriegserklärung der Westmächte an die Sowjetunion erging, als deren Truppen am 17. September die polnische Ostgrenze überschritten, zeigt, wie gleichgültig den Westmächten Polens Schicksal war. Es kam ihnen allein darauf an, das Deutsche Reich zu vernichten, das - wirtschaftlich und politisch erstarkt - ihre imperialistische Vormachtstellung bedrohte. Jeder Anlaß zum Weltkrieg war den Westmächten willkommen, deren Repräsentanten nie einen Hehl daraus gemacht hatten, daß sie nicht nur das Deutsche Reich vernichten wollten, sondern auch das Deutsche Volk, denn dafür entwickelten sie die Atombombe.
8. Allein das Erscheinen und Wirken des Zweiten und Dritten Deutschen Reiches rettete Europa bis 1945 vor der asiatischen Despotie auf der einen Seite und der Diktatur des Kapitals auf der anderen.
9. Die heute herrschende Sicht der deutschen Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts ist die Fortsetzung und Verschärfung der alliierten Kriegspropaganda nach dem am 8. Mai 1945 durch die Kapitulation der Deutschen Wehrmacht eingetretenen Waffenstillstand, also eine Fortsetzung von Kriegshandlungen.
10. Das Deutsche Kolleg verurteilt die gegenwärtig herrschende Geschichtsschreibung als Kriegspropaganda und folglich als eines der zahlreichen Waffenstillstandsverbrechen der Sieger!
11. Erst nach Beendigung der Herrschaft der USA über Europa kann es zu einer wahrhaftigen öffentlichen Sichtung der deutschen Geschichte kommen.
12. Wer heute das Erlahmen der schöpferischen Kräfte in Europa, die Umkehrung aller hergebrachten Werte und den Niedergang ehemals leistungsfähiger Volkswirtschaften in der abendländischen Welt betrauert, beklagt nur das Ergebnis des 1945 von Deutschland und seinen Verbündeten verlorenen Krieges. Das Deutsche Kolleg fordert die Völker auf, dies anzuerkennen, sich so für bevorstehende Entscheidungen zu wappnen und damit dem Opfer vieler Millionen Toter aller kriegsbeteiligten Völker wieder einen Sinn zu geben.
13. Das Deutsche Kolleg anerkennt kein irdisches Recht über den Völkern. Völker sind sich selbst das weltlich Höchste und unterliegen somit Kategorien wie Schuld und Sühne nicht. Sie haben das Recht und die Pflicht, Krieg zu führen oder Frieden zu wahren. Das ist Völkerrecht, das die Schreckensherrschaft der Menschenrechte bricht.

"DEMOCRATIE" A L'ISRAELIENNE

Azmi Bichara, première victime de la "démocratie" à l'israélienne
Israël - Une sanction sans précédent, "une journée noire pour la démocratie". La Knesset lève l'immunité du député Azmi Bichara.
Le Parlement israélien, la Knesset, a levé hier l'immunité du député arabe Azmi Bichara, pour les propos qu'il avait tenus au cours d'un voyage en Syrie, une sanction sans précédent en Israël. Ainsi, pour la première fois dans l'histoire de l'Etat hébreu, un député va être poursuivi uniquement pour ses propos.
Qu'il soit arabe illustre la problématique à laquelle est confrontée une minorité qui constitue un sixième de la population, israélienne de nationalité, palestinienne de coeur, et pose le débat sur les limites de la démocratie dans l'Etat juif.
Lors d'une cérémonie marquant en juin le premier anniversaire de la mort du président syrien Hafez el-Assad, en présence des chefs du Hezbollah, M. Bichara avait appelé les Arabes à adopter une position unifiée pour «poursuivre la résistance» contre Israël. Dans un vote séparé, le Parlement a également levé son immunité pour l'organisation, selon lui, «illégale» de voyages de familles arabes israéliennes en Syrie, alors que ces familles étaient allées revoir leurs proches dans ce pays.
«C'est une journée noire pour la démocratie en Israël, les votes du Parlement visent à chasser de son enceinte les élus arabes», a aussitôt répliqué le député arabe Ahmed Tibi. «Israël se veut un pays démocratique et juif, ce qui signifie en fait qu'il est démocratique pour la majorité juive», a ironisé le député.
Le député travailliste Yossi Katz a dénoncé pour sa part la levée de l'immunité. «Ce vote constitue un précédent dangereux qui risque en fin de compte de porter atteinte à la liberté d'expression. Le résultat, c'est qu'il y a 119 députés perdants sur 120, et un seul gagnant, Azmi Bichara, qui fera figure de héros ou de martyr», a-t-il dit.
«La démocratie israélienne est celle de la majorité sioniste et non des citoyens de l'Etat», a déclaré de son côté M. Bichara, affirmant que cette décision «était le début d'une campagne pour limiter les droits des Arabes d'Israël». «Je respecte les lois d'Israël mais on ne fera pas de moi un patriote de l'Etat juif», avait-il lancé mardi.
Universitaire chrétien originaire de Galilée (nord), M. Bichara, 55 ans, siège au Parlement depuis son élection en 1996 sur la liste communiste puis sur celle du parti arabe nationaliste Balad, dont il est l'unique député. Il envisage avec sérénité d'être traîné devant les tribunaux. «Ce sera une excellente occasion d'expliquer aux Israéliens la différence entre résistance et terrorisme», avait-il affirmé.
Les Arabes israéliens sont les descendants des 160.000 Palestiniens restés sur leur terre lors de la création d'Israël en 1948. Certains ont rejoint les groupes radicaux palestiniens et, dans de très rares cas, ont participé à des attentats contre des juifs.
Depuis la fin de l'administration militaire, en 1966, ils ont été intégrés dans le système politique israélien, mais souffrent toujours de graves discriminations.

The Role of Pakistan's Military Intelligence Agency (ISI) in the September 11 attacks

Two days after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon, a delegation led by the head of Pakistan's military intelligence agency (ISI) Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Ahmed, was in Washington for high level talks at the State Department. (1) Most US media conveyed the impression that Islamabad had put together a delegation at Washington's behest, and that the invitation to the meeting had been transmitted to the Pakistan government "after" the tragic events of September 11.
But this is not what happened!
Pakistan's chief spy Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad "was in the US when the attacks occurred." (2). According to the New York Times, "he happened to be here on a regular visit of consultations."(3)
Not a word was mentioned regarding the nature of his "business" in the US in the week prior to the terrorist attacks. According to Newsweek, he was "on a visit to Washington at the time of the attack, and, like most other visitors, is still stuck there," unable to return home because of the freeze on international airline travel (4)
General Ahmad had in fact arrived in the US on the 4th of September, a full week before the attacks. (5) Bear in mind that the purpose of his meeting at the State Department on the 13th was only made public "after" the September 11 terrorist attacks, when the Bush Administration took the decision to formally seek the "cooperation" of Pakistan in its "campaign against international terrorism."
The press reports confirm that Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad had two meetings with Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, respectively on the 12th and 13th. (6) After September 11, he also met Senator Joseph Biden, chairman of the powerful Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate.
Confirmed by several press reports, however, he also had "a regular visit of consultations" with US officials during the week prior to September 11, --i.e. meetings with his US counterparts at the CIA and the Pentagon. (7)
What was the nature of these routine "consultations"? Were they in any way related to the subsequent "post-September 11 consultations" pertaining to Pakistan's decision to cooperate with Washington, held behind closed doors at the State Department on September 12 and 13? Was the planning of war being discussed between Pakistani and US officials?
"The ISI-Osama-Taliban Axis"
On the 9th of September, the leader of the Northern Alliance Commander Ahmad Shah Masood was assassinated. The Northern Alliance had informed the Bush Administration that the ISI was allegedly implicated in the assassination: The Northern Alliance had confirmed in an official statement that: a "Pakistani ISI-Osama-Taliban axis" [was responsible] of plotting the assassination by two Arab suicide bombers.... "We believe that this is a triangle between Osama bin Laden, ISI, which is the intelligence section of the Pakistani army, and the Taliban," (8)
More generally, the complicity of the ISI in the "ISI-Osama-Taliban axis" was a matter of public record, confirmed by congressional transcripts and numerous intelligence reports. (9)
The Bush Administration Cooperates with Pakistan's Military-Intelligence
The Bush Administration consciously took the decision in "the post September 11 consultations" at the State Department to directly "cooperate" with Pakistan's military intelligence (ISI) despite its links to Osama bin Laden and the Taliban and its alleged role in the assassination of Commander Masood, which coincidentally occurred two days before the terrorist attacks.
Meanwhile, the Western media --in the face of mounting evidence-- had remained silent on the insidious role of Pakistan's Military Intelligence agency (ISI). The assassination of Masood was mentioned, but its political significance in relation to September 11 and the subsequent decision to go to war against Afghanistan, was barely touched upon. Without discussion or debate, Pakistan had been heralded as a "friend" and ally of America.
In an utterly twisted logic, the US media had concluded in chorus that:
US officials had sought cooperation from Pakistan [precisely] because it is the original backer of the Taliban, the hard-line Islamic leadership of Afghanistan accused by Washington of harboring bin Laden. (10)
From The Horse's Mouth
Nobody seemed to have noticed the obtrusive and unsubtle falsehoods behind the Administration's "campaign against international terrorism", with perhaps the exception of an inquisitive journalist who questioned Colin Powell at the outset of his State department briefing on Thursday September 13th:
[Does] the U.S. see Pakistan as an ally or, as the "Patterns of Global Terrorism" pointed out, a place where terrorist groups get training. Or is it a mixture?" (11)
"Patterns of Global Terrorism" referred by the journalist (at <http://www.state.gov/s/ct/rls/pgtrpt/2000>) is a publication of the US State Department which confirms that the government of President Pervez Musharraf has links to international terrorism:
The United States remains concerned about reports of continued Pakistani support for the Taliban's military operations in Afghanistan. Credible reporting indicates that Pakistan is providing the Taliban with materiel, fuel, funding, technical assistance, and military advisers. Pakistan has not prevented large numbers of Pakistani nationals from moving into Afghanistan to fight for the Taliban. Islamabad also failed to take effective steps to curb the activities of certain madrassas, or religious schools, that serve as recruiting grounds for terrorism. (12)
Behind Close Doors at the State Department
The Bush Administration had sought the "cooperation" of those, who were directly supporting and abetting the terrorists. Absurd, but at the same time consistent with Washington's broader strategic and economic objectives in Central Asia.
The meeting behind closed doors at the State Department on September 13 between Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage and Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad was shrouded in secrecy. Remember President Bush was not even involved in these crucial negotiations:
"Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage handed over [to ISI chief Mahmoud Ahmad] a list of specific steps Washington wanted Pakistan to take". (13) "After a telephone conversation between [Secretary of State Colin] Powell and Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said Pakistan had promised to cooperate." (14) President George W. Bush later confirmed (also on the morning of September 13th) that the Pakistan government had accepted "to cooperate and to participate as we hunt down those people who committed this unbelievable, despicable act on America''. (15)
Former Iran-Contragate Officials Call the Shots
Bear in mind that Richard Armitage had served as Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security under the Reagan Administration. "He worked closely with Oliver North and was involved in the Iran-contra arms smuggling scandal." (16)
In many regards, the pattern of Bush Junior appointments replicate the Iran-Contragate team of the Reagan and Bush senior administrations:
The same kind of appointments are being made in foreign policy. Bush has been choosing people from the most dubious part of the Republican stable of the 1980s, those engaged in the Iran-Contra affair... Armitage served as Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs in the Reagan years, but a 1989 appointment in the elder Bush administration was withdrawn before hearings because of controversy over Iran-Contra and other scandals. (17)
Armitage was one of the main architects behind US covert to the Mujahedin and the "militant Islamic base, both during the Afghan-Soviet war as well as in its aftermath. US covert support was financed by the Golden Crescent drug trade.
This pattern has not been fundamentally altered. It still constitutes an integral part of US foreign policy by the Bush Administration and the basis of CIA covert operations.
Pakistan's Chief Spy on Mission to Afghanistan
On September 13th, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf confirmed that he would send chief spy Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad to meet the Taliban and negotiate the extradition of Osama bin Laden. This decision was at Washington's behest, most probably agreed upon during the meeting between Dick Armitage and General Mahmoud at the State Department.
Pakistan's chief spy is rapidly whisked back from Washington to Islamabad:
At American urging, Ahmed traveled ... to Kandahar, Afghanistan. There he delivered the bluntest of demands. Turn over bin Laden without conditions, he told Taliban leader Mohammad Omar, or face certain war with the United States and its allies. (18)
Mahmoud's meetings on two separate missions with the Taliban were reported as a "failure." Yet this "failure" to extradite Osama was part of Washington's design, providing a pretext for a military intervention which was already in the pipeline. If Osama had been extradited, the main justification for waging a war "against international terrorism" would no longer hold. And the evidence suggests that this war had been planned well in advance of September 11, in response to broad strategic and economic objectives.
Meanwhile, senior Pentagon and State Department officials had been rushed to Islamabad to put the finishing touches on America's war plans. And on Sunday prior to the onslaught of the bombing of major cities in Afghanistan by the US Air Force (October 7th), Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad was sacked from his position as head of the ISI in what was described as a routine "reshuffling."
"The Missing Link"
In the days following Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad's dismissal, a report published in The Times of India, which went virtually unnoticed by the Western media, revealed the links between Pakistan's Chief spy Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad and the presumed "ring leader" of the WTC attacks Mohamed Atta. In many regards, The Times of India report constitutes "the missing link" to an understanding of who was behind the terrorist attacks of September 11:
While the Pakistani Inter Services Public Relations claimed that former ISI director-general Lt-Gen Mahmoud Ahmad sought retirement after being superseded on Monday [8 October], the day the US started bombing Afghanistan], the truth is more shocking. Top sources confirmed here on Tuesday [October 9], that the general lost his job because of the "evidence" India produced to show his links to one of the suicide bombers that wrecked the World Trade Centre. The US authorities sought his removal after confirming the fact that $100,000 were wired to WTC hijacker Mohammed Atta from Pakistan by Ahmad Umar Sheikh at the instance of Gen. Mahmoud. Senior government sources have confirmed that India contributed significantly to establishing the link between the money transfer and the role played by the dismissed ISI chief. While they did not provide details, they said that Indian inputs, including Sheikh's mobile phone number, helped the FBI in tracing and establishing the link.
A direct link between the ISI and the WTC attack could have enormous repercussions. The US cannot but suspect whether or not there were other senior Pakistani Army commanders who were in the know of things. Evidence of a larger conspiracy could shake US confidence in Pakistan's ability to participate in the anti-terrorism coalition. (19)
According to FBI files, Mohamed Atta was "the lead hijacker of the first jet airliner to slam into the World Trade Center and, apparently, the lead conspirator" (20)
The Times of India article was based on an official intelligence report of the Delhi government that had been transmitted through official channels to Washington. Agence France Press (AFP) confirms in this regard that:
A highly-placed government source told AFP that the "damning link" between the General and the transfer of funds to Atta was part of evidence which India has officially sent to the US. "The evidence we have supplied to the US is of a much wider range and depth than just one piece of paper linking a rogue general to some misplaced act of terrorism," the source said. (21)
Pakistan's Military-Intelligence Agency behind September 11?
The revelation of the Times of India article has several implications. The report not only points to the links between ISI Chief General Ahmad and terrorist ringleader Mohamed Atta, it also indicates that other ISI officials might have had contacts with the terrorists. Moreover, it suggests that the September 11 attacks were not an act of "individual terrorism" organised by a separate Al Qaeda cell, but rather they were part of coordinated military-intelligence operation, emanating from Pakistan's ISI.
The Times of India report also sheds light on the nature of General Ahmad's "business activities" in the US during the week prior to September 11, raising the distinct possibility of ISI contacts with Mohamed Atta in the US in the week "prior" to the attacks on the WTC, precisely at the time when General Mahmoud and his delegation were on a so-called "regular visit of consultations" with US officials. Remember, Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad arrived in the US on the 4th of September.
US Approved Appointee
In assessing the alleged links between the terrorists and the ISI, it should be understood that Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad as head of the ISI was a "US approved appointee". As head of the ISI since 1999, he was in liaison with his US counterparts in the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the Pentagon. Also bear in mind that Pakistan's ISI remained throughout the entire post Cold War era until the present, the launch pad for CIA covert operations in the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Balkans. (22)
In other words, General Mahmoud Ahmad as head of the ISI was serving US foreign policy interests. His dismissal on the orders of Washington was not the result of a fundamental political disagreement. Without US support channeled through the Pakistani ISI, the Taliban would not have been able to form a government in 1996. Jane Defense Weekly confirms in this regard that "half of Taliban manpower and equipment originate[d] in Pakistan under the ISI," which in turn was supported by the US. (23) Moreover, the assassination of the leader of the Northern Alliance General Ahmad Shah Masood --in which the ISI is alleged to have been implicated -- was not in contradiction with US foreign policy objectives. Since the late 1980s, the US had consistently sought to side-track and weaken Masood who was perceived as a nationalist reformer, by providing support to both to the Taliban and the Hezb-I-Islami group led by Gulbuddin Hektmayar against Masood.
Corroborated by Congressional Transcripts
Corroborated by the House of Representatives Internaitonal Relations Committee, US support funneled through the ISI to the Taliban and Osama bin Laden has been a consistent policy of the US Administration since the end of the Cold War:
...[T]he United States has been part and parcel to supporting the Taliban all along, and still is let me add... You have a military government [of President Musharraf] in Pakistan now that is arming the Taliban to the teeth....Let me note; that [US] aid has always gone to Taliban areas... We have been supporting the Taliban, because all our aid goes to the Taliban areas. And when people from the outside try to put aid into areas not controlled by the Taliban, they are thwarted by our own State Department... At that same moment, Pakistan initiated a major resupply effort, which eventually saw the defeat, and caused the defeat, of almost all of the anti-Taliban forces in Afghanistan. (24)
Cover-up and Complicity
The existence of an "ISI-Osama-Taliban axis" is a matter of public record. The links between the ISI and agencies of the US government including the CIA are also a matter of public record.
Pakistan's ISI has been used by successive US adminstrations as "a go-between." Pakistan's military-intelligence apparatus, constitutes the core institutional support to both Osama's Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Without this institutional support, there would be no Taliban government in Kabul. In turn, without the unbending support of the US government. there would be no powerful military-intelligence apparatus in Pakistan.
Senior officials in the State Department were fully cognizant of General Mahmoud Ahmad's role. In the wake of September 11, the Bush Administration consciously sought the "cooperation" of the ISI which had been supporting and abetting Osama bin Laden and the Taliban.
In other words, the Bush Administration's relations with Pakistan's ISI --including its "consultations" with General Mahmoud Ahmad in the week prior to September 11-- raise the issue of "cover-up" as well as "complicity". While Ahmad was talking to US officials at the CIA and the Pentagon, the ISI allegedly had contacts with the September 11 terrorists.
According to the Indian government intelligence report (referred to in The Times of India), the perpetrators of the September 11 attacks had links to Pakistan's ISI, which in turn has links to agencies of the US government. What this suggests is that key individuals within the US military-intelligence establishment might have known about ISI contacts with the September 11 terrorist "ring-leader" Mohamed Atta and failed to act.
Whether this amounts to the outright complicity of the Bush Administration remains to be firmly established.
What is crystal clear, however, is that this war is not a "campaign against international terrorism". It is a war of conquest with devastating consequences for the future of humanity. And the American people have been consciously and deliberately misled by their government.
Ultimately the truth must prevail. The falsehoods behind America's war against the people of Afghanistan must be unveiled.

Deux membres du gouvernement qui vivent à proximité des territoires occupés se sont empressés de foutre le camp de chez eux, le trouillomètre à zéro, depuis l'assassinat de "Gandhi", le ministre du "tourisme". Si les ministres ne peuvent pas dormir chez eux sur leurs deux oreilles, c'est le début de la fin.

Yugoslav constitutional court declares decree on cooperation with Hague illegal
The constitutional court of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia has handed down a judgement of illegality on the decree passed by the federal government on co-operation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. That decree had been passed by the federal government, immediately after a bill to the same effect had been defeated in the Yugoslav parliament. On 28th June 2001 -- St. Vitus' Day, the anniversary of the Battle of Kosovo Field in 1389 - the Court issued a temporary injunction against the decree, effectively striking it down until it had time to review its constitutionality. But on that same day, Serbian police forces, under the command of one of the men accused of ethnic cleansing in Kosovo, moved in and physically abducted the former federal president Slobodan Milosevic and handed him over to The Hague. This was obviously an illegal act at the time -- especially since it was overtly done in exchange for promises of international aid -- but now the Court has found that the original decree was, indeed, illegal.

Israël continue de torturer
malgré l'interdiction de la Cour suprême
Jérusalem -- Israël a recommencé à torturer de manière systématique des détenus palestiniens bien que la Cour suprême de l'Etat hébreu ait interdit cette pratique il y a deux ans, ont annoncé dimanche trois mouvements des droits de l'homme dans un communiqué commun.
Le document cite des déclarations écrites sous serment de détenus, dont celle d'un jeune homme de 16 ans affirmant qu'il a été jeté dans de l'eau glaciale, contraint de porter une poutre en bois alors qu'il avait des menottes aux poignets, puis battu.
L'Etat hébreu affirme qu'il est toujours interdit de torturer et que les abus qui auraient été commis font l'objet d'une enquête. Israël a reconnu que parfois, les forces de sécurité ont besoin d'obtenir rapidement des informations de suspects susceptibles d'être au courant d'attentats imminents.
Le communiqué commun dénonçant la pratique de la torture a été signé par le Comité public contre la torture en Israël, le mouvement palestinien Law et l'Organisation mondiale contre la torture, basée en Suisse. Ces mouvements affirment que la décision de la Cour suprême, adoptée en septembre 1999, a été régulièrement violée, et particulièrement depuis la reprise des combats entre Israéliens et Palestiniens il y a un peu plus d'un an.

ABOLITION DE LA JUSTICE AMÉRICAINE.

On peut avoir pour elle la plus piètre des considérations, on peut considérer qu'elle est une machine infernale destinée à écraser les faibles, la "justice" américaine existe. Un premier coup vient de lui être porté: les autorités pourront enregistrer les échanges de propos entre les inculpés et leurs avocats dans les centres de détention. Elle vient ensuite d'être abolie pour les étrangers qui seraient aux mains des Américains. En effet, ils ne pourront pas, s'ils sont soupçonné de "terrorisme" passer devant un tribunal normal, mais ils seront déférés devant un tribunal MILITAIRE. En outre, les règles de droit normales concernant les preuves ne seront pas applicables. ON NOUS REFAIT LE COUP DU TRIBUNAL DE NUREMBERG.

Senate Calls for OK to Israel's War against Terrorism

 
A large majority of the United States Senate has sent a letter to U.S. President George Bush, calling upon the Americans to give Israel the green light to deal with Palestinian terrorism. The senators rejected the notion of equating Israeli retaliatory strikes with ongoing PA-originating terrorism. The letter, signed by 89 of the 100 Senators, praised President Bush for not meeting with Yasser Arafat during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

LE BON POGNON

Israël vient de toucher 42 millions de dollars de l'Irak, en provenance des comptes bloqués par lesquels passent les transactions pétrolières irakiennes dans le cadre des sanctions, imposées par l'énorme crotte de chien posée au bord de l'Hudson River et qui s'appelle l'«eau est nue». Par une des manoeuvres les plus répugnantes inventées par la diplomatie du siècle dernier, les Irakiens ont le droit de vendre des quantités soigneusement limitées de brut, à des prix qu'ils ne peuvent pas négocier. L'argent est mis sous séquestre à New York. Une petite partie est utilisée à des achats au profit de la population irakienne, achats très soigneusement examinés et autorisés, un par un, par un groupe de fonctionnaires de l'ONU, sous la surveillance américaine. Ce sont ces gens-là qui interdisent l'achat de médicaments (qui pourraient finir en "armes chimiques", sait-on jamais) ou de cahiers pour les enfants (inutiles), etc. A côté des féroces qui pratiquent ces choix, sans discussion et sans appel, le bonhomme Hitler était de la petite bière, croyez-nous ou allez-y voir vous-mêmes. C'est pas secret.

Ensuite, une autre partie de cet argent est utilisée pour payer plusieurs centaines de "contrôleurs internationaux" qui siègent dans les quelques endroits par où des marchandises peuvent entrer en Irak. Là, avec les listes établies à New York, ils pointent tout ce qui entre. La plupart des pseudo-fonctionnaires employés là par des firmes suisses plus ou moins bidon sont des agents des services de renseignement occidentaux. On les a vus, vous pouvez nous croire. Ensuite, il faut prélever la part la plus importante, ce sont les dommages de guerre que l'on prélève sur ce mince pactole, pour engraisser les porcs koweitiens qui ont subi quelques dommages émotionnels ou perdu quelques Cadillac, et refiler du pognon à ceux qui ont à se plaindre de l'Irak. Ainsi les Israéliens ont reçu sur la tronche une quarantaine de Scud qui ont faire quelques dégâts mineurs. L'addition est de 75 millions de dollars. Evidemment, on ne compte pas le coût des destructions causées à l'Irak quand les bombardiers israéliens sont venu détruire la centrale nucléaire civile Osirak, fournis par les Français, peu avant son démarrage. L'idiot de technicien français qui disposait les mires radars destinées à faciliter le bombardement s'est d'ailleurs fait descendre par les bombes ce jour-là.

S'il fallait compenser à ces prix-là les dommages causés par les Israéliens aux Egyptiens, aux Jordaniens, aux Syriens, aux Libanais et surtout aux Palestiniens, l'argent de tous les juifs du monde n'y suffirait pas.
